I have been wearing this daily, including into the shower for about 90 days now and I haven't detected any damage from the water at all. There a few light scratches on the outside of the watchband, but this is typical of any watchband I wear (my last metal band was covered in them). I find that occasionally bending my wrist (like when I put on a coat) will push into the clasp release and open the watchband, but this is rare and it's not a huge concern for me. The tradeoff is that this type of clasp "hides" behind the watchband so all you see is the wood. Installation was easy and the band fits well and has a pretty shine from the tung oil treatment. Resised and a day of break in it now fits perfect. Has a little stretch when breaking in. Seeing the band all the way around the wrist is a plus. Have had no issues yet. If you are on the ropes about it, I would buy it. Also has a tool to remove links, and a pin on each side has been loosened for easy removal. If you don' t need to adjust band size simply push the pins in.I have wooden watches. Some are pricey. This is the first "band only" that I have bought. I bought it for my Pebble Time. It is of equal, if not superior, quality to the bands on my wooden watches. Wasn't sure how a wooden band would look on a non-wooden watch but I have to say it looks great. Sized and installed it myself in less than 5 minutes.
