Low power consumption, bare bones model
The main thing to like about this model is that it produces no noticeable heat. Totally cool to the touch, and with an overloaded office of heat generators, this is nice to have. The unit is very bare bones. There are no cables supplied. No disk. It has a mouse, but that was overly sensitive, and I replaced that with one of the many others I have accumulated over the years. There is only a single ethernet input, so an external router is needed. The Wifi did not work (or did not work as expected). Search did not find anything despite having several available. It would not allow manual entry of Wifi name. The two channel playback also did not work. It said over-channel limit when trying to add another one.It had one very irritating feature enabled by default. It reconfigured the camera's IP address. It set the camera to a new IP on the wrong subnet. For various reasons (intervening networks etc), I had to go back outside and connect directly to the camera and change it back. Fortunately, I noticed this before adding any of the other cameras. The feature might be useful to some, but I have hardwired IPs, and a separate subnet. I really don't want them changed. You can disable this mode by changing the add mode drop-down.After reading the manual a couple of times, I have no idea what 'digital channel' is supposed to do or be used for. Whatever it is, it wasn't necessary for anything. Kind of curious to know what it is supposed to do. It listed just one of my cameras there, but to what purpose, I don't know. The playback functionality is basic. All NVRs I have tried to date seem to be pretty annoying with respect to this feature. Few of them make a lot of sense in their organization and operation, and most are missing one or more features they should have. Expectations are on the low-end here, and it delivers that.Given the prices of other units, this one seems reasonable by comparison. If you need some basic handler for up to 16 cameras and you already have the other parts, it may make sense.

Don't buy it. Worked for 2 months then died and cannot return or exchange.
First the user manual is worthless. Nothing applies to this unit. After figuring out how to configure unit it only worked for 2 months. It started taking a long time to boot then stopped booting altogether. Only displays color bars on HDMI and VGA outputs. About every 10 minutes screen will go blank then color bars come back. This unit sucks and there is no way to contact them for a replacement. This is the last of their products I will buy.
