Good buy
Works very well for muting the drums especially the toms. Depending on how you setup I could see them slipping off but for how I play it works perfectly.

my neighbors also give it five stars
These drum mutes are great for too many reasons to write down all of them. So, you should probably just buy them. But in case you are bored or like reading reviews, here are some of those reasons. They fit each drum head very well and mute just enough. You can still hear the tone underneath, but won't make people in your house want to plot your death while you are shredding killer beats on your kit. They are well made and thick. I expect these will withstand all the metal blasts or jazz spaz-outs you can throw at them for many years. As with any mute, you will not get the same drum head feel as butt naked drums, but these do give a good bounce--enough to do earth-shattering rolls and bouncing beats. If you have a standard kit (12,13,14,16in) this set has you covered; except cymbal mutes, those are sold in another set. If you do not have a standard kit you could throw away your old one and buy a new one that is cooler. Or, you could measure your drums and see if these pads will fit. Or, you could just buy any number of the single Soundoff mutes available on amazon. Other cool things about these mute: they are black (everyone knows black is the coolest color), they are reversable (although both sides are black so you're kinda stuck there), you could turn them into mouse pads if you have to pawn your drums (please don't pawn your drums though), and you will save your hearing during practice and avoid looking like a mega dork wearing ear plugs (however if you play without mutes by all means wear ear plugs--being in a band will make you look cool, asking "what?" all the time will make you look like a moron). Don't stop the rock

Not great for dampening - but the deep tone these produce give me a unique sound
I bought these dampeners for my snare and two toms. For reference, I always have, and always will play with Promark H-RODS. These dampeners do their job for the most part. It does reduce the initial hit on the drums, but the overall volume of the hit really does not change much. Not enough that I would recommend these if you are playing drums with your grandmother in the next room - but they do take the edge off a bit. I find that they actually are more useful for creating a "different" sound for the drums. It almost gives it a deeper profile, similar to what you might hear on a hip-hop or electronic album. It's hard to explain, but I love the sound that I get with these. What I do now is take these off for 'rock', and then put the dampeners back on if I am playing something more rhythmic or if I want a unique sound while recording. Once again, the overall volume and response does not seem to be effected very much. I enjoy them because they simply give me a more lush, deep sound with each stroke. Sounds like a different kit in a good way to me. In my honest opinion, if you want something to muffle your drums, I would just buy a pack of microfiber rags and secure them to your drum heads. That actually dampens the sound the correct way without changing your tone. But for the price, these are worth it, especially if you are into home recording and trying out new sounds.

They really reduce the sound
This is really good it reduces the sound by a lot, and its great because sometimes when you are practicing you want to flow or simply need to hit the toms hard to get the intensity you want but you cant because it'll be to loud. With these the problem is gone, gets some mutes for your cymbals too and you'll be able to play whenever and however you want. However one of them tend to slip of my tom every once and a while, also you get a bit more bounce then when you are play with the heads perse, so keep that in mind

Really Work! Mutes the sound enough to allow practice in the house
Really Work! Mutes the sound enough to allow practice in the house These mutes are a life saver for any wife or mother of a drummer or a drummer who needs to drum in closer quarters than those around them would like. My husband was drumming one room away and it was still impossible to watch tv or hold a conversation so we looked online for mutes. This set included all we needed except a cymbal mute and was a very affordable price so we ordered it and hoped for the best. GREAT decision! These mutes allow enough of the sound to come through that the drummer still gets actual practice but dulls the sounds enough that those in the next room can watch tv or hold a conversation. My kids were running around plugging their ears and complaining it was too loud every time my husband practiced and now he has been able to drum every night without them noticing enough to care. So worth the small investment! It probably cuts down on wear and tear to the actual drum head during practice too which means changing drum heads less often which means saving money! I highly recommend these for any drummers or their loved ones!

Reduces a lot of noise
You will still hear some noise, so you still wouldn't want to be drumming at midnight if you live in an apartment. But it does reduce a lot of noise. Bang away in the middle of the afternoon with confidence. It is something similar to a TV being on in the next room. I bought these to practice african douns, which have a flat surface and nothing to keep them in place. If you do that, they will bounce around and eventually fall off. I ended up securing them with some string and bound them fairly tightly. The only drumming I'm doing lately seems to be from home, so this works pretty well. Good quality produce.

Recommend
Great drum mute pads. They block a lot of noise, and are durable. I recommend.

Great drum mutes!
Got these to cut down on the noise level for practicing, and these do a great job. Sound reduced by probably 60-70%. the drums don't resonate/ring with them on, but a dull deep thud sound. Which is fine for just working on dexterity exercises around the kit.
