Front cotton cover is soft, like sateen. I washed using cold water in my front load washing machine and tumbled dry on low. None of the filling bunched up and it fit perfectly like a fitted sheet on my bed with the stretchy polyester siding. The padding was comfortable and not too thick, which is just what I wanted. It did not make me hot or sweat during the night even though I used my heavy down comforter.My only complaint was the backing. Instead of a regular cotton or polyester material like the front they used a flimsy web-like paper thin material - it didn't even look or feel like material but more like paper with tiny holes. A very small amount of filling popped out through those tiny holes while drying. Even though it did not make any crinkling sound when I was in bed just the thought of the backing not holding up for a long period of time was disappointing. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.EDIT: So I have to drop my rating down to a 2. I tried liking this mattress pad but when I washed again more of the filling came out. I don't think this is normal, Ive had other pads that this never happened to

tried to find a pad that helped with my so hot tempurpedic and this product really helped with this issue.Can say that is 70% less hot now....

In the questions section, it said that there is a 50% wool fiber content for the inner layer of the mattress pad. I just received it and it is only 10% wool - I'm not happy! I was searching for a wool mattress pad, and there is very little wool indeed in this product.

Very comfy, made a difference in how I sleep because it just adds a little softness. Sometimes feels hot but so does my pillow so that is likely my internal temp issue and not the bedding.

This is an AWESOME mattress pad! Super comfy and the breathability is wonderful. We previously had a foam pad, that caused us to sweat unbearably. My research indicated that wool pads are the way to go to alleviate this issue, but some of the prices had me aghast. Also, pads that were not covered tended to shed. This product solves both those concerns, as it is reasonably priced and covered in a 100% cotton cover. It fit my king mattress perfectly. I would highly recommend!

Good fit for King bed with 14" drop, well made, would recommend.
