No you don't have to get the base station if you are only planning to use the remote's IR functionality. The base station is a nice addition if you prefer not to point the device at the equipment while executing a macro or if the equipment that you are controlling is out of the line of sight of the remote control.

I need this remote but my legal ccp software stopped syncing when pc updated to win 10. How do i resolve so i can purchase?

Try opening the program through as administrator. That’s what I had to do when I switched to windows 10 and it works fine, otherwise it won’t open.

The programming is proprietary and not only difficult to get, but is not user friendly. I recommend having URC-certified programming
