I was hesitant to purchase, but bit the bullet when my week old replacement gate was pushed open by a utility crew. Like others have mentioned the wiring is a bit short, but was easily added to with a bit of low voltage wire I had left over from a different project. Installation took about an hour, and most of that was me looking for the right tools. I used the existing U-bolts from the stop plate, and just replaced the stop plate with this lock. For the bracket I found some wood screws lying around and used those. I did end up needing to put washers between the screws and the bracket, but I found some random ones lying around. The gate is sturdy and can no longer be pushed open, in the few days I’ve had it it hasn’t malfunctioned once, even with repeated testing, and constant use as the kids enter and exit.

Works great, this is compatible with the mighty mule opener.

This is a great gate lock for 12v gates. I used it to replace a gate lock on my Mighty Mule, so I didn't need the circuit board that came with the lock. The latch mechanism isn't nearly as strong or secure from tampering as most other locks, but certainly sufficient to keep the gate from blowing open and secure enough to keep honest people honest. The actual latch, though, was problematic. Like other non-magnetic locks, there is a fixed rod attached to the gate post and when the gate closes the latch locks behind this fixed rod. The latch, though, is V shaped, so when closed, especially in windy conditions, the rod can become trapped in the notch of the V. That prevents the latch from retracting. I added a small steel plate to the latch (by cutting a groove with a dremel on one side of the aluminum latch and using JBweld epoxy). It's worked like a champ every since!

The hardest part of the install is figuring out the wiring. Also this latching mechanism really needs to be on the left gate. I installed it on the right gate and the wire access hole is pointing upward where water will probably get in. The wiring for a GTO gate maybe direct. In my case I didn't need the adapter board. I did have to put a jumper on my gate controller though. There is actually a painted on wire indicator on the control board itself showing where the jumper goes. It was a little hard to figure that out in the manual didn't really say it. I had no trouble with the latch mechanism catching or not engaging. It always pulls back even if there's a little bit of pressure on the gate. I don't see any issue at all with needing to make modifications to the brackets or to the latch. The gates I have are from tractor supply. They are metal farm gates and I put the latch mechanism on one side and the glass on the other. I used rev nuts in the metal but you could easily just drill holes and use the long bolts.

This arrived yesterday and I immediately installed it on my 12' tube gate. The gate has just enough flex that my dog had learned she could push the gate open just enough to slip thru. I used this with a Mighty Mule model MM371W gate opener. The 371W is already equipped for a locking latch (LM143) with terminals on the factory control board. This latch is a direct fit alternative at under half the price as the name brand. The supplied board with the latch was not needed- hook up two wires from the latch and one jumper on the control board and it works flawlessly. The latch does not come with mounting hardware. It did have a decently written instructions. It took as long to round up hardware as it did to install- all in it was about 45 minutes. We have used the gate last night and this morning (about 8 cycles) and so far so good. I will update this review if I encounter issues but so far Im happy. The only disappointment so far is from my German Shepherd who can no longer let herself out.
