Really only suitable for chocolate or garlic, which require fine grating and where you don't really want to get your fingers that close to a grater's edge due to the risk of cutting them. Honestly terrible at grating anything else or cheese of any kind. Bit of a novelty really and overall I'd say don't waste your money as with a bit of technique, you don't need a grater for garlic as a good chef's knife does the trick if you google how to use one properly there. Also with chocolate, everyone likes to much on the stub rather than risk grating their fingers, by way of excuse, so you really don't need this for that either. For most people, I'd say don't bother with this item.I really wanted something non-stainless steel & non-metal to grate cheese due to a chemical (type 4 / non-anaphalactic) contact allergies to metals (chromium, nickel) in stainless steel, and I applaud this as a ceramic innovation towards the same, however it really doesn't work all that well and is terrible in terms of cheese for anything other than really hard cheese (e.g. some parmasans) but overally mostly just mushes and squashes it back into a blob so isn't really worth even my time. Gone to the back of the cupboard!

I bought it as a gift, so i haven't used it myself, but it looks good quality so I am sure they will like it. :)

Product looks good but there was no traction on the bottom of the dish so when you went to great the ginger the dish slid all over
