A Flock of Feathered Stars: Paper Pieced for Perfection

I LOVE feathered stars made PERFECT with paper piecing!
I think feathered stars are really beautiful and eye-catchingly impressive. But perfecting all those points that are on the bias are touchy (to me) to piece. That is why I SO like paper piecing. The points come out PERFECT. The bias give is held in check by the foundation paper. It's a bit tedious to some, but with such a beautiful, perfect point outcome - one has a really nice creation for all their hard work (seemingly made easy by paper piecing to me). Now I'm ready to tackle a "feathered star" project and there are LOVELY variations to choose from in this book. I'm SO glad Carolyn came out with feathered stars in a paper pieced format. I ordered the book the instant I saw it was available and am delighted to find that it is really well done!Another book I would HIGHLY recommend for GORGEOUS but seemingly difficult designs made easy by a paper pieced format is "A Passion for Piecing: Breathtaking Quilts from Easy Paper-Pieced Units" by Claudia Clark Meyers (available on Amazon). Every one of her creations are different and absolutely STUNNNG. Many of the original designs included in her book are from the multitude of award-winning quilts that Claudia has created and pieced, often then quilted by Marilyn Badger. They make a formidable creative team. I think you will also love this book.

The directions in the book are crystal clear. Carolyn was the speaker at our quilt guild a few months ago and I was just in awe of the beautiful quilts she has designed and made. I held off buying her book that night because I was too intimidated to try something that looks like it must be extremely complicated - but I kept going back to it in my wishlist on Amazon.I've since finished a star quilt that was paper pieced and this one is next on my list to make. The designs are beautiful!

Nice Book
Well written, clear instructions. Would recommend to anyone wanting to do a paper-pieced feathered star quilt. I took my copy to Office Depot and had it spiral bound so I could copy the paper patterns without warping.

Awesome book!
I have been looking for a paper pieced feathered star book for a long time. This one is awesome. I am not good at precision so this sure makes it easier to make these beautiful blocks. I consider paper piecing "no brainer" quilting and I love that. I don't want to think more after thinking all day at work and this was just what I was looking for. Buy the book you won't be disappointed.

This is the second time I purchased the book. First book was stolen and not returned. I took a class from Carolyn McCormick in Castle Rock and this book is the best I have found, which is why I bought it twice. I loved it and it has made paper piecing so much easier to understand. Best buy for your money!

To Die For!
This batch of feathered stars features several non-traditional patterns, along with more traditional ones. The patterns are well designed for paper foundation piecing, and beautifully rendered. Exactly what I was looking for!

Makes feathered stars do-able by anyone!
With paper piecing these blocks are within reach of any quilter. As with all paper piecing, the drawback is that you have no control over the direction your seams are pressed. A wonderful set of designs, though.
