Truly awesome book written by someone who has many years experience in the studio. Couldn't wait to receive it! As a keyboard player I relied on others for my recordings and learned things along the way. If you're looking for a book with a lot of helpful hints for your home studio, look no further. This book is a great guide of what you'll need, how to use it and other pertinent information that will be very helpful to you as you set up your studio to record. Shane covers it all, everything from mics, headphones, cables and DI boxes to reflective surfaces and DAWs. For example, Shane even takes the time to break down microphones. They are not a one size fits all situation. Each voice is different. The book is very well laid out and easy to follow, particularly if you're a novice. Yes, Shane even covers MIDI and virtual instruments. He talks about loops and even setting up your room. This book has it all. You will not be disappointed!

As a singer-songwriter who is interested in creating professional sounding demos from the comforts of my home, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book!!! I had pre-ordered it and within a few days of receiving it, I have already excitedly read through the whole thing (dog-eared and highlighted!!!!)This is a comprehensive yet easy-to-follow guide to recording and producing songs from your home studio. Shane Adams thoroughly walks you through the process of production from start (e.g. setting up your home studio for optimal results) to finish (e.g. touches on mixing and mastering). He makes a challenging process seem so fun and obtainable!! And he gives you lots of concrete examples and recommendations along the way to help you be more effective and efficient.I've learned a TON already from reading through it & I know I will be referencing it constantly for years to come as I continue to record demos/create music. It's a fantastic book and resource!!!!

FINALLY!!! :) As an aspiring singer-songwriter I have been looking for a guide that would help me understand how the recording process works. I had no idea where to start, but this book makes recording fun & easy! I've bought at least 4 books from different authors on this topic. None of them explained the terminology and technology as well as Shane does in this book. He breaks it down so everyone can understand. I recommend this book to all musicians; beginner, intermediate and experts! You won't be disappointed!

Very nice book for beginners on Home Studio. For experts too there are some tricks to optimice your work flow.

This is a very basic home recording guide that lacks depth. I have no doubt that much of the information is of use, but I think most of the information is aimed at beginners. If you already have an established background in home recording, this book will add little of use.

J'avais monté mon home studio de manière empirique en tâtonnant pas mal et en cherchant de la doc sur internet assez fragmentée. Ce livre a l'immense mérite de m'aider à valider certains choix ou en modifier certains car il est basé sur l'expérience réelle et concrète d'un expert en la matière. Et il fait le tour de l'ensemble de la question. Bien sûr, il ne rentre pas dans le détail du détail mais il donne tout un tas de trucs qui permettent de se focaliser sur les choses les plus importantes. Livre très précieux pour les singer-songwriters.

Bei dem Buch handelt es sich um ein sehr interessantes und hilfreiches Buch. Trotzdem ich kein englischer Muttersprachler bin, ist es wirklich sehr verständlich geschrieben. Ich empfehle es allen, die gerade dabei sind, sich ein Homestudio einzurichten.

If you are completely new to recording it could be a useful primer, but it’s very basic. If you need more details on using effects, EQ, compression etc. I’d look elsewhere.
