Hanna Instruments High Range Nitrate Checker HI782 with Extra Reagent

This is a great checker but my initial readings were way off from my other test kits. Talked to the tech at HANNA and he told me to use a 10 ML syringe to measure the water and not the line on the cuvette. Using this method of measuring the test water sample gives me much better results. The line on the cuvette was only measuring 9 or 9.5 ML not the 10 required for an accurate result. I now use a syringe to measure all of my HANNA water samples.

I bought this listing over some others because it came with extra reagent pouches. Some of them are from a different (lower number) lot. They always read 0ppm. It was maybe 10 of the packets. So, I’m ultimately not particularly upset about it but, I will say it was confusing until I investigated.

The reagent is a very fine powder and hard to deal with. I wear a mask when I use it and make sure no fan is on in the room. Is very difficult to get all of the reagent out of the packet so I’m am not sure how accurate it is.
