Need to touch 2" worn spot on lamp. Spots are worn to silver base metal over which matte brown paint was originally applied. Will This work?

This will work fine Diane. I once said that you can paint over dirt and get a nice finish with this material and it's true. Your trick is going to be using two coats as the first covers and the xecond gives the 'hammered look. Make sure the first coat is dry before adding the second and you need no luck at all; just about 40 minutes.Very Best.

I sprayed it on a plastic outdoor table umbrella base that was white and it has held up perfect in rain storms and half a day of direct sun. im not sure if its scratch proof since nothing rubs against it but zero peeling. I like this stuff a lot

It has primer built in. It may take two cans. We used this in hammered copper on the aluminum of our screen door. It is beautiful. Don't spray in the wind or dust.
