simple & effective
After trying a few humane tricks to deter the groundhogs (who are tunneling up by our home's foundation by our driveway and and walkway) I decided to give these a try - so far I'm happy I did!Upon opening I set all the solar repellers in the window for charging and after a couple of days I took them outside. For digging the holes I chose to utilize a tpost and post driver which worked perfectly for me, but you do what works for you. These have been in-ground for about two weeks now and seem to be working great so far. We haven't had to cleap up from the groundhogs since installation which has been a welcomed change; there were some days beforehand that we had to clean our walkway 2-4 times. The solar repellers have been through plenty of rain and unfortunately one got destroyed by a weed eater (so be sure to tell the person who weed eats where the repellers are.)If we get signs that the groundhogs come back in the area I'll update the review. So far I'd recommend this product for sure.

Move on to something more durable.
Do not buy. Does not hold up to weather, and breaks easily when moving. Sun breaks down the plastic.

Works!
So, like most people, we tried all the home remedies including vinegar to get rid of our mole problem. Nothing worked. We had, what I would call, an infestation. Seemed like there were dozens of moles ripping up our yard, front and back. Someone suggested these sonic stakes and within 24 hours, there were no new tunnels or mounds. This is not just anecdotal, but real results based on actual use. I am astonished and amazed. They make a low almost inaudible buzzing every 20 seconds and after a few days you don’t even notice it. The moles seem to have packed up and moved out. The nice thing about these stakes also is they don’t require any maintenance. Just place them in your yard outside of any mowing area, flip the switch to on, and they recharge themselves from solar power and rechargeable batteries that are included. You won’t need to move them ever. Couldn’t have been easier. So pleased.

Only last a season, if they work at all
I've purchased at least 2 packs of this brand to get voles out of my garden. One or two out of each pack never worked at all and the rest petered out over the season. I think they helped, but I still have some voles.

Spendy for being cheap plastic, but seems to atleast divert moles.
I have a terrible mole problem in my yard likelydue to our water table being so high all winter making the dirt nice and easy to burrow through. i cannot bring myself to use anything lethal on these cute little critters, and have been trying out any humane option possible without breaking the bank.this summer, the moles have run rampant! i have gotten this type of deterrent in previous years, but they were $70 for 6, and stopped working after one summer. i wanted to try this new brand out as they seem to be higher quality, and they do look nicer but time will tell.we stick these into any mole holes that surface in our yard, and found that when doing so the moles do not return to that area. however, it does seem to just divert their course, as over time new mole hills surface a few feet away. we keep moving them around to try to keep them at bay, and they seem to be doing a pretty good job. we are hoping that if we are consistent, those little critters will be able to find a different yard to call their home.

Easy, chemical free and doesn’t bother my dog
So far, so good. These were easy to install. They are still working over a week later even though our yard does not get much sun. Every 20 seconds they make a vibrating sound. I honestly do not notice it. The noise does not seem to faze my dog. If you were sitting right beside one, I could imagine it could become annoying. But ours are at least 35ft from the house so you can barely hear them. I love how big an area they cover as well. Honestly if we had measured what exactly 75 feet looks like, we probably could have ordered a smaller pack because we did not need all of them. But we will keep them in case we have any other issues. Best part - I do not have to worry about chemicals and my dog!

Stop Looking. Buy Them.
I did (too) much review reading/research since not all of these little buggers work as well as others. My total yard is about .25 acres. While I did not measure between them, I did place them in a zig-zag near the property lines, and one in the middle of the front and the back yard.I wasn't sure if I'd need more - but zero problems all season. I'm psyched. There's a slight buzzing, but it won't keep you up at night if a window is open.Play around with the depth and make sure the soil isn't too compact if at first you're not seeing results.

A convinced skeptic BUT...
We've periodically had moles here at our home at least a dozen times in the last 15+ years but I've always been able to eliminate them with poison, primarily pellets. Last year, we had another invasion I simply couldn't control. I tried the pellets multiple times. No luck. I switched to the poisonous worms, again with no luck. Finally, I called a pest service who, (for $700) used poisonous gas in an attempt to eliminate them. At first, it seemed to work but back they came. The pest service offered a six-month guarantee and came back two more times until winter set in and they must have gone dormant because activity quieted.Well, spring came and back came the moles. I was at my wit's end. I saw this product. I was skeptical at first. But I figured what did I have to lose? The area where the moles are is a bit shaded so I charged the spikes for a couple of days in the sun and then set them loose leaving them in for several days. I'd check them periodically and they were still (intermittently) buzzing away (so not being in full sunlight all the time wasn't an issue). AND THEY WORKED. The moles are gone (for now- I'm not dumb enough to think they may not be back at some point) and have stayed away for several months!! If they DO come back, I'll recharge these babies and use them again.Again, I was skeptical. But the darn things worked as advertised. Recommended.UPDATE: The product works but the moles returned. I tried to charge them for a second time and they didn't hold a charge for very long. Unfortunate. I liked them based on performance.
