Mazama Sidestream Bite Valve Replacement for Popular Bite Valve Systems

The title says it all. Here it is again so Amazon's system won't tell me that my review is of inadequate length: Nice Valve. Works on my Camelback.Used it to replace a lost bite valve.

I've used Camelbak bite valves for years, but they have one really annoying feature.Being oval shaped, you have to adjust it perfectly on your Camelbak hose, or you won't be able to "bite it" as it will go into your mouth at an angle, and not work properly.The Mazama is completely round, and you can bite it from any angle without thinking about it.However, there is a problem with it; it does not fit on a Camelbak without modifying it.The good news is, the modification is quite simple.Remove the black piece from the center of the Mazama, and using a pair of cutters, cut off the back side of the black piece that inserts into the Camelbak tube.You'll see a large, flat, round disc that fits into a groove inside the Mazama's outer flexible housing.Cut off everything below it, and reinstall it on your Camelbak.This will take you about five minutes or less to do.The outer flexible housing will grip the Camelbak adapter and stay in place.Without this mod, it's impossible to get it to fit on the Camelbak adapter.Once installed it works so much better than the Camelbak bite valve, and it doesn't leak like the Camelbak sometimes does.Wish I had known about the Mazama valve years ago.

Perfect fit for my Dakine hydration pack.

I have 2 Osprey hydration bladders and I lost the bite valve on one of them while mountain biking, and the other one somehow got ripped, from my teeth I guess. I read the reviews and they said that this would fit the Osprey bladder. For $3, I had nothing to lose. I spent $10 at REI for the whole magnetic piece and it doesn't even fit my old Osprey bladder. (the new ones are too narrow to fit into the tube) I ended up just removing the bite valve, but I wish I'd known about this replacement valve and I wouldn't have bought it. I will purchase several more to have as spares.

Well I used this to replace my Platypus bite valve and it was a definite upgrade. The problem with the Platypus bite valve is they fall off easily and I have lost three which is not acceptable when backpacking. The Mazama is a real tight fit so losing it is doubtful but also means it is much harder to put on your drinking tube. I used a phillips head screwdriver to stretch out the tube so it would fit. It also doesn't leak except for the few times I sat on it on rest break. Also the flow is much higher than my Platy. Just bite and drink.

I needed to replace a leaky bite valve on my 2 year old Osprey Hydration pack, and found this valve with great reviews here... so I thought I would try it. When it arrived, it looked smaller than the one on my pack and I thought at first it wouldn't work, but to my delight it fits perfectly and I have been using it all summer with no complaint! Ordered 2 more as back-up! Great Value!!

Replacement for the Nalgene bite valve that is so hard to find for many of the Osprey hydration packs. Works as original.
