- Weatherproof Mechanical Pencil, Orange Barrel, 1.3mm Black Lead (No. OR13)

This Rite In The Rain pencil in much nicer then the older models. I like that it has weight to it and feels good in the hand. It writes very well and the lead deploys and retracts easily without any hiccups. I tend to press down hard when writing and always snap thinner lead pencils. This 1.3mm lead is great and after just a few pages of writing can tell it's going to be one of my favorite pencils. I did not rate the durability do to just receiving it but I have no doubt it will last a long time. I gave the value 4 stars because for a pencil at this price it would have been nice to receive extra lead and a couple erasers. It will be another 14 dollars for lead and erasers but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. My original Rite In The Rain pencil is now three years old and still going strong but it just feels to light and small in diameter in my large hands. I like the metal pinch area and just that little large diameter makes a big difference when writing for long periods of time. Is it worth it, I think so and I would definitely purchase another one. The eraser works very well and the lead is super strong. I read a few reviews on people breaking these pencil's so I applied pressure to the plastic part with my thumb and it was plenty strong and I am a welder with large strong hands. Maybe don't sit on it or purposely try snapping it to test it's strength. Well worth the money if you use it for what it was fabricated for. You can't go wrong with any Write In The Rain product but then again that is just my opinion after using there products for years. Heavy handed approved.

There aren't many good 1.3mm pencils, and this one is absolutely the best of the best. Seriously. The plastic they use in the top part doesn't feel cheap. It's not overly brittle, but it's not weirdly soft either -- it's in the sweet spot, giving that "expensive plastic" feel, if that makes sense. The gnurling on the barrel feels amazing, as does the fit between the plastic body and the barrel. It's tight. Feels perfect, like a really high quality pencil should feel. I do wish the end had a traditional fully-closed metal cap, but instead they opted for usability, with replaceable eraser caps. That means you get a large eraser, and when it's run down -- no worry about removal/insert of the rubber part. You just replace the whole cap (with the erasers being sold in 6 packs.) Then there's the lead! The lead this OR13 comes with is soft and dark, yet firm. It feels glorious to write with, seriously. The line is pretty thick compared to most mechanical pencils, but if you write at a normal angle and rotate as you write, it's not bad. It's actually great. Did I mention the balance? It's front loaded toward the metal grip, which feels amazing in the hand. Very relaxing to use. I use this pencil for sketching, drawing, and also writing lots of notes. It's a great all purpose pencil. There are also specialty sharpeners available which will sharpen the 1.3mm lead to a traditional pencil point, if that is something you like. Not necessary, but a nice option to have. I own many pencils and fountain pens, and rank this in the top category of my collection. Simply put, it's my favorite 1.3mm pencil, and possibly my favorite pencil of all. I own both the orange and yellow. Fun colors, great pencil.

The Rite in the Rain weatherproof mechanical pencil is excellent quality. The 1.3mm lead is strong and writes smoothly, and the bright orange barrel makes it easy to spot. It feels sturdy, works well in tough conditions, and is very dependable for everyday or outdoor use.

not gonna lie, they ARE nice. however, you can get the same product without the branding for much less money if you look. if you dont mind the price, get them. if budget is a concern, shop around.

super cool! feels heavy, but weighs 0.9oz on the scale if you're counting those things. It does not come with any extra lead. I like the thick lead, it pairs really well with the water resist note books.

This is heavy duty, easily visible, and the lead advance mechanism works great. It’s got 1.3mm lead, writes a nice heavy line. It comes with high quality lead that’s twice as long as standard leads, but you can use any 1.3 lead in it. It’s got a solid heft and a knurled metal grip. Pretty impressive, especially for the price.

Writes really well, but the black lead tends to smear and can be difficult to erase with normal erasers. The eraser on back of pencil seems to work just fine though. The red lead refills don't smear, but they also don't erase. Comfortable to write with for long periods. Super durable and simple design that just works really well. Would be nice if there was a lead pointer available that works with this size lead. Overall, well worth the extra cost over regular lead pencils. Be careful about going through airport security or security at government buildings. When my backpack went through a scanner, I had some of these pencils inside, and they looked like loose ammunition on the scanner. The security guards who pulled me aside were initially rather freaked out, but they thought these pencils were pretty cool after they figured out that they were what set off the scanner

Casi no escribo opiniones de productos que compro en esta plataforma. Sin embargo llevo varios años coleccionando portaminas de diferentes marcas, y en esta ocasión, este portaminas de la marca Rite in the Rain me ha gustado mucho. No me había animado a comprarlo, puesto que anteriormente buscando en la web, me encontré con esta marca y leí sobre su historia y la calidad de sus productos. Así mismo, buscando que portaminas comprar en Amazon, me salió en la búsqueda que lleve a cabo dos modelos el: BK13 y BK15, sin embargo el único que se vendía en México y tenían disponible era el BK13, así que lo compre por el buen precio. Llego en perfectas condiciones y de inmediato comencé a utilizar. Soy diseñador gráfico y programador front end, y estoy escribiendo constantemente así como haciendo bocetos para mi trabajo, y este portaminas me ha gustado mucho para llevar a cabo mi trabajo diario. Es pesado eso sí, pero no provoca fatiga en la mano, la mina de 1.3 mm de dureza 2B, es de muy buena calidad, y se siente muy suave al escribir. El grip esta moleteado evitando que se resbale al escribir. El tamaño es algo grande en comparación de otros portaminas, como los que muestro en una fotografía que anexo a esta opinión, sin embargo, sigue siendo muy cómodo, aunque el barril esta fabricado en plástico, este es de excelente calidad y se percibe la durabilidad del material. En este momento es mi herramienta de escritura de uso diario, y llevo una semana usándolo. En cuanto a las minas, por las causas que ya se conocen en las últimas semanas, no se pueden enviar a México, espero se solucione este problema pronto para poder comprar los recambios de mina para este portaminas. En verdad recomiendo esta marca por su trayectoria y calidad de sus productos.
