This WORKED wonders!
My dog has a chronic dry eye condition, and she gets infections regularly. It is frustrating to try to keep in check. I am unable to afford to take her to the vet with every eye infection (generally 2-3 a month at $125-150 a visit). I was having trouble finding the topical antibiotic (online)that I had used , to treat her. Everyone seemed to be currently out of what I wanted. I came across Vetericyn Ophthalmic Gel while looking from site to site for the antibiotic, and thought WHY NOT! (I have since found and ordered the antibiotic.) The VOG came three days ago and I started using right away, by the second day her eyes were no longer red, the heavy mucus that is typical of dry eye syndrome is no longer yellow-green with infection. She is more comfortable than I have seen her in a very long time. I am going to continue to use this product, and I will only use the antibiotic if need be. (FYI: It has yet to come, it was ordered the day after I ordered this from Amazon. Amazon is quite fast with their deliveries.) Anyway, she is doing so well, that I may not need to use the antibiotic any longer.I am also considering using on my eyes, I too suffer from dry eyes syndrome. Although I do not get infections as often as my dog does, I do get them and if this would prevent the issues that I have, it would be worth it. I can see no reason why I cannot use this product too. But of course, I will check with my eye specialist before using it, just in case it is unsafe for humans. Which by the way, if it is deemed unsafe for humans than I would have to rethink and question its use on my dog.I would refer and advise the use of Vetericyn Ophthalmic Gel for my friends' and families' pets and farm animals.UPDATE: 9/5/14 I never did use this on myself, I have an number of eye issues and the doctor advised that I not use it.However, my main reason for updating and adding info to my first review is that I used this on my male cat, he had a mild eye infection and since I had had such gook luck using this on my dog, I chose to use in on the cat. He did not have a positive reaction, he enter eye lids swelled badly within moments of it use. I rinsed his eye and put a cool pack on it and he is fine now, but I won't use this again with him. So my point is use care, as with any drug there can be an adverse reaction with some. I will continue to use this with my dogs.

Shake the bottle before each use
I bought this product for my cat who has a bad right eye that he's had since we found him at 3-1/2 months old. He looks like he's blind in that eye, but the many Vets he's seen over the years, say, "No". His eye didn't start flaring up until about two years ago when he was 10 years old. His Vet has prescribed antibotics (NPDex Opth) and it never really cleared up the problem. And I bought Terramycin at our local feed store, but that didn't clear it up either. These products helped but didn't make it go away. So after reading through the reviews at Amazon; especially the gal who healed her blind chicken, I decided to try the Vetericyn gel. I used it on him 3x daily for two weeks. It relieved his condition a tad but didn't make it go away. So back to the Vet we go again. I like the ease I had in using this product. It's a nice sized container and easy to hold. Just give it a good shake each time you use it and that will make the gel come out smooth rather than in one big blob that shoots across the room. I washed my hands each time and then used a finger to apply it to the lower lid. Put a dab on your finger when your "lovey" isn't looking. After a bit, I didn't let Mikey-Boy see the container, so there was minimal stress and he didn't take off running to hide. Cats don't like to be touched around their eyes. This way it was quick and easy and my cat was okay with it. Afterwards I hugged him and told him how much I loved him and he was happy with me. And I did clean around the outer eye a tad with tissue and all was fine. Hope this review helps somebody.

Awesome Product
We recently adopted two kittens from the same woman we got our adult cat from 2 years ago. She rescues animals, but she did tell me beforehand that almost all of her kittens have eye infections, that is passed from the mother at the time of birth,...which is normal for Ferals. Our Adult cat didn't have this when we got him, but both of these kittens had eye infections & the eyelids were pink to angry red. I cleaned them with a warm water rag & they would be closed & caked with puss the next morning. One of them had dull & cloudy eyes as well & we thought he would now be blind. I tried an old remedy of my Grandmother's she had used often on their farm animals & pets. This was a teaspoon of Vinegar diluted with water two times a day for a week, but they still hadn't healed or cleared up. We couldn't afford to go to the Vet with both of them, so after reading all the reviews about Vetericyn Ophthalmic Gel I decided to try it. I noticed right away, as some commented on, that the top of applicator on the bottle was difficult to dispense a small amount with the four holes in it. Too much was coming out & only to waste much of it. So I trimmed off the four holes completely, leaving just the opening. I tried to use a soft warm rag to apply, but the rag was soaking up too much of the gel;...still wasting. I then decided put it on my finger & began applying it directly to the kittens eyes. I just turned the bottle upside down 'without' squeezing it. One small perfect drop came out and I applied it to each eye. I did this two times a day & on the third day both the kittens eyes were clear of yellow pus & crusty, caked buggers. The one we thought to be blind was not. His eyes, that were dull & cloudy, were now cleared completely as well. The infection was gone & still at four months of age, has not returned. Excellent product & I will order again if needed, but I still have alot left.
