In-depth review from a vanish stain bar lover
My local shops stopped selling the vanish stain bar (the one in the box), so I decided to get this product as the reviews suggested it was the same. This isn’t the same as the bar you get in the box. It comes in a plastic wrapper (and doesn’t come in a little white tray), it’s creamier coloured and bigger than the original (I assume it’s less dense as it weighs the same as the original bar). But it doesn’t smell nice compared to the one in the box (that’s my opinion, my sister agrees and thinks it smells like “pig fat”), but the smell doesn’t stick around after you’ve rinsed the soap out, so it’s not really a problem.I took some pictures comparing it to one my sister had as a spare. Plus some pictures of their packaging. This product was produced for South Africa, rather than the UK/ROI, as you can tell from the phone number, address and web address on the packet, and includes glycerine in the ingredients list (where the one in the box doesn’t) but doesn’t include citronellol (which the box one does, hence the smell difference).I stained an old t-shirt with some coffee and tomato ketchup, then used the bars to remove the stains as a side-by-side comparison, and they seem to work just as well as each other, and (as I said earlier) the smell of this item is gone once you’ve rinsed the soap out (though I do appreciate the citronella-y smell left behind by the bar in the box).So all in all this is a great replacement for the box vanish bar, though not the same. 👍

A marvellous stain remover
This marvellous product seems to have almost disappeared from the shelves of supermarkets, hence my buying it from Amazon. The product consists of a bar of white, pure soap. There are no additives, such as peroxides, so you can safely use this stain-remover on coloured as well as white fabrics. The way to use the bar is to moisten the stained area of fabric with cold water and rub it with the wet bar of Vanish soap. Work the soap generously into the body of the fabric then wash the item in the usual way in your washing machine. There is no need to leave the Vanish soap for any length of time in order to let it 'work'; the soap does its work as the item is being washed.I have found that if the stained item is a garment, such as a dress, shirt or item of underwear a good trick is to put a hard, flat surface, such as a chopping board, inside the garment to give the cloth a flat surface while you rub with the bar of Vanish soap. I offer this tip at no extra cost to the user. Vanish soap - so effective, so inexpensive, so buy some!

One of the best stain removers in the entire Vanish range!
The picture featured on many of the Amazon entries for this item shows the product in its familiar box packaging - which used to come with a little plastic dish inside. However, it seems the manufacturer now packages the bar inside a plastic sachet. A small matter, but It might be better to update the product illustration. The product itself is identical, however - and I firmly believe it remains one of the most effective products in the whole Vanish range! I've been using it for years now and it rarely fails to clean up even really tough stains.

Excellent stain remover.
I love these Vanish stain remover bars. They really do work and I feel they're better than the Vanish powders you can buy. I struggled to find these local in the supermarket or online but came across these and had to buy. Great value for money and buying in bulk they will last for ages. I only wish they would come in resealable packaging or a little box for easier storage between uses.

Good for removing grime
I've always used washing soap for pre treatment of stains, especially collars and cuffs. I can't get any locally, so I have to order them online. My impression is that the bars are gradually getting smaller, so perhaps not quite such good value for money. Soon the other hand, they have reduced the amount of packaging (no cardboard box around each cake of soap, or plastic tray underneath it, which is better for the environment. But it works really well on stains.

A miracle stain remover
In. my eyes this is the best and cheapest product on the market to deal with stains immediately, I have used this for years and have recommended it to all my friends.. particularly if you ate on holiday and have a little satin and need to wear this within minutes it is if there has never been a stain. With colour only leave on for a very short time and it will not effect your colour

Not the real deal
I ordered these items and they are nothing like the type purchased in the usual retail stores. They look different and the stain removing power is zero so they are either poor imitations, old/different formula. Bottom line is they are rubbish. I would not purchase again. I've bought these in the past from Tesco and the like so I know the difference.

Only use on white clothing
I have been using this product for many years but as it's not been available at the supermarket, I decided to buy the soap online. Instead of a box, it came in cellophane with a different design. I used it on the front of a grey, cotton sweatshirt that used to look as good as new, despite being at least 15 years old, and it bleached the colour horribly. I'm very disappointed and will only use the soap now on whites.
