Does work - needs know how
Just like a number of folks - I could NOT get this valve to work. It looks like there was no valve in the manufacture of it. I tried cranking on the lever, taking it apart. Nothing.Finally I put it in a vise and cranked on the lever. Bingo - the valve is there, it's just invisible until it opens, unlike ball valves. So, go ahead, it's there, you just have to exert a lot of force.Once it's installed, it's easier to open/close.I sprayed the inside with lithium grease just because.

Definitely heavy duty
This is way more built than I needed for my sand point well I expect it to last a long time, the tolerance in the thousandths is impressive

Undersized threads
When I threaded a stainless 1.25" hex nipple into this 1.25" ball valve I quickly realized that the valve's FPT tapered threads were making a very loose fit to the nipple, so much so that I could easily thread the nipple by hand all the way into the valve until it bottomed out. (The nipple threaded correctly into a steel weld bung fitting, but it was loose when I tried both ends of it and into both ends of the valve.) I used Permatex thread sealant, but the valve's threads still leak, even at only about 1.5 PSI pressure! Evidently this valve is defective: its tapered threads are simply too large diameter. I shall be returning it as unusable.
