I am told the analog ears are not recommended for flat screen tv's. Do I need a digital set?? Richard

Maybe. It's not that they don't work with flat screen TVs; that's misleading. The issue is what kind of audio outputs the TV has. We just got a new TV that only had digital output (there's exactly one audio output port, and it's a TOSLINK). The only way to know is to look at the TV specs. You can also get an adapter from that digital port to an analog port; they're about $20.

Did it help with understanding the dialog ?

I have single sided deafness in one ear and substantial loss of hearing in the other. I use my TV Ears frequently and have found that the clarity that you hear through the ear set is exceptional. I found that I could hear and understand the dialogue in all circumstances, especially when performers were speaking in a low voice or when there was a lot of background noise in the viewing environment.

Can the battery be changed out by a commerically available one?

Yes, the owner can put in a new rechargeable battery by removing small screws on the headset and separating it into two parts. I found replacement batteries on line, and they may be available at specialty stores such as Radio Shack. But not at general-merchandise stores.

can you use this unit with a sound bar

Yes. It is best to connect TV Ears to the audio out port located on the back of your TV. It will not effect the function of your sound bar. The TV Ears Original has the ability to connect to 3.5 and RCA audio out ports. The TV Ears Digital has the ability to connect to 3.5, RCA, Optical digital and coaxial digital audio out ports. You may want to by TV Ears digital so you have both analog and digital connectivity options.
