OK for costumes/dress up as a WW1 era doughboy or display (what I use the helmet for) or WW1 thru the 1960's British soldier. Good if used as designed for. If you want something similar but with better protection for airsoft use, I'd recommend a helmet like the Modern American soldier uses or maybe a WW2 thru the Viet Nam era style. Even better would be an off road motorcycle/ATV helmet with a face shield! More expensive but provides MUCH better protection to the head and face than open face plastic toys. **Q: Can it act like a baseball cap to lessen the sun's rays on my head?** A: It provided adequate coverage for my 9yo son who is on the smaller side. I’m not sure it would be quite as protective for an adult. It is also pretty shallow so it didn’t fit snuggly on my son’s head, (like a baseball cap would) and the strap is pretty much decorative, so I’m not sure how functional it would be for sun coverage either. **Q: Is it the size of a real one?** A: Yes I think so **Q: Is it durable enough to use in airsoft?** A: No definitely not.
