Wicked Knight: Knight's Ridge Empire, Book 1

My new favorite Tracy Lorraine book and a top read of 2021
Wicked Knight is an utterly engrossing start to the Knight's Ridge Empire series; I was glued to my kindle until I finished every single word.Stella is an American, and after years of moving around the country, her father has decided to make another move, this time to the United Kingdom. She doesn't expect them to stay long, but she soon discovers that secrets are being kept, lies are being told, and she appears to be the one left in the dark.Stella is no damsel in distress; she is fierce, capable, and daring. There are many strong female protagonists in the novels I've read, but Stella's character stood out from the crowd. She had no reservations about putting those around her in their place. Those around her aren’t what they seem, and some have her in their crosshairs, just waiting for the moment they can shatter her.Sebastian is a complete alpha-hole; he commands any room he walks into, he's cocky, and he has a darkness about him that should make girls fear him, but instead draws them in like a magnet. To the chagrin of all the girls at Knight's Ridge, once he sets his sights on Stella, all the others vanish.Sebastian and Stella's relationship is tumultuous, with intense fluctuations from one moment to the next. His vicious intent and malicious words are hypnotic when juxtaposed with her fervid sass and willingness to use her knowledge of self-defense to knock him or anyone else down a few pegs. As they battle with words and bodies, you become mesmerized, heightening the potent chemistry they share.Wicked Knight is an enthralling introduction to the world of Knight's Ridge. A mind-boggling combination of a wickedly dark alpha-hole, a fierce heroine, witty banter, a labyrinth of dark secrets, evil-intentions, extra spicy steam, and that's just the beginning. This is my new favorite Tracy Lorraine book, and it is unquestionably a top read for 2021.

hope the next one is better
I spent most of the book annoyed by the two main characters, but I hate leaving a book unfinished so I kept going. I don’t like slutty main female characters. I know, I know. But I feel like by trying to make her badass, the author stripped away her femininity. It just didn’t sit well with me. Women don’t have to be like men in order to be strong. Idk, it just kind of annoyed me. It got better after 60 percent or so… so I’m actually excited for the next book.

It’s a trilogy!?
No where in the description for this book states it’s a trilogy. At first I assumed that when it says book one in series it’s because of all the important characters that are bound to get there own story. But after reading this and getting closer and closer towards the end with both of our two main leads Stella and Seb being nowhere close to being in love, I was starting to figure it out that this was going to be book one.Honestly, I’m not mad. I am loving Stella. She’s something fierce. And Seb, well he tries to come across as lethal and vile. But I think he’s cute. Slightly deranged nutter, but he’s kinda funny when we’re inside his POV and I love how in denial he is about what he really wants from Stella. But I also think this book could have been wrapped up in one book, maybe two? But three!? That’s a bit much.I’m already jonesing for Theo’s story and Alex and Deamon’s. Even manho extraordinaire Nico is piquing my interest. Oh and his lil sis Callie needs her own book too!!! Tracey is doing a great job of making this story pop with so much angst and over the top drama from catty high school girls and mafia wars and family turmoil that I’m completely hooked. The dialogue is pretty good. The characters are good. I definitely need book two like now!!!But for me this book isn’t quite five stars. Why? One, I was mislead. Two, Stella is American but her dialogue seems British. There are typos and some inconsistencies here and there with characters doing one thing and then all of a sudden they’re doing something else with no transition. Just poof! It throws me off and I just want to be sucked into a story not try to understand what the author forgot to change. But it’s fun!!!I love Stella. She’s not perfect or 100% likable, but what I do like is that she 100% owns her stuff. She kicks butt and is like I am a slut. So what? What I don’t dig is that she also slut shames her school nemesis. Like you both jock the same boy lol. Oh well. Also I like that Seb isn’t touching other girls since his first time with Stella (read the prequel y’all). All of the boys are big time manhos, so I’m dying to meet the ladies that bring them to their knees. Get whipped boys lol!!!! Very fun and interesting story so far. That cliffhanger is epic!!!!

HOT, HOT, HOT!
Stella has been one of my favorite characters since the author came out with her Rosewood High series. I am excited to finally dive into her life as she takes on a new darker world than she has ever been a part of before. Her whole life has led to this moment where she enters Knight's Ridge and the secret life her father has kept her from.Stella has prepared for this new life without even knowing it as she has moved from place to place for as long as she can remember. Sebastian is hot, alpha, and gives off the best BDE I have seen in a while. Together these two explode off of the pages with as much fighting as steamy scenes. Good thing they have more than one book because I'm not sure that I will be ever able to get enough of these two.

Good
I have to say after reading the prequel to this book when Seb & Stella meet in the graveyard I was expecting so much more of the story to why he hates her after finding out her name. There is a snippet of the mafia in this when they get summoned but other than the incident at Marco’s diner they hasn’t been anything to do with mafia dealings the whole of this book has been about Seb’s hate for Stella.I’m assuming he thinks Stella’s father had something to do with his own fathers death but that’s probably another lie.I’m not sure how Stella could be so stupid with Seb after the disgusting and humiliating things he has done to her, she is so strong but allowing what he has done so far is just wrong.I get they have immense chemistry and are hot when they come together but the party at Nick’s should have meant she stayed as far away as possible. That surprise with Toby at the end was unexpected but I knew something was going to happen to her and we would have a cliffhanger.

Hold on tight, it’s a wild ride
Wow! What a wild ride. If you’ve read the Rosewood series you’ll have met Stella and already know she’s a wild card, and if you’ve read Wicked Summer Knight you’ll have met Seb and seen his darkness and witnessed them both together and you’ll just know their story is going to be explosive. Now bearing all that in mind I think it’s still not enough to prepare you for the wickedly wild ride this book takes you on. Every single character is amazingly and adds to the sheer intensity of this book, and also brings their own brand of humour and enjoyment in winding each other up.The darkness and the bullying is vastly overshadowed by the intense pull Seb and Stella have toward each other. They say there’s a fine line between love and hate, well I don’t think there’s a line there at all with these two. Seb wants to hate her so much, to hurt and break her, but he simply can’t stop from being impressed by her and drawn to her. And what a cliff hanger! I literally couldn’t believe that there were no more pages left, I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen and who’s ass Seb is going to kick.

Trashy
As another reviewer said Stella 's character is ott. Yes it's great to have a strong female lead who can fight and stand up for herself but Stella is also trash which is really a disappointment as the female lead. Once she gives into Seb she becomes vulgar to be blunt. Anyone self respecting female would not allow the degrading acts Seb carries out on her, again not being portrayed as a strong female. However after skimming 2 thirds of this it does end with a surprising cliff hanger and I will get the next instalment especially as it is free. Certainly not one to purchase.
