Got this for a 14 day self quarantine
Recently returned home from a 3week trip to Hong Kong. My lucky self landed right in the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China. Got this for my 14day self quarantine and got this to check my temperature twice daily. It Works great! But takes longer than 5 seconds for the results.

NOT instant read
It was supposed to take 5 seconds. It took 45 seconds to get up to 98.6 (which is where it landed each time). I tried it several times, on different days. 40-45 seconds each time. Granted, I think that's faster than my old thermometer but it is NOT instant and it is NOT 5 seconds which is what I was looking for. I do like the larger screen but other than that it wasn't worth investing my $5 (^o^)

The beep means nothing. Leave it in until it stabilizes.
At first I thought the device was flawed. Silly me, I took it out of my mouth once it beeped, but it consistently read 1.5 to 2 degrees lower than my mercury thermometer and my other digital thermometer. Then I read the directions and learned that this one keeps calculating temperature after it beeps. So I ignored the beep, left it in my mouth until the temperature stabilized, and yep, the temperature eventually matched my other 2 thermometers.Here's what it says in the directions:"Keep the thermometer in place until it beeps. The measurement continues even after the alarm notification."So why the beep?

Don't Buy This Product
Bought this thermometer to get me through the pandemic. I followed the directions for operation and found that there is no backlight or beep tone as advertised or shown on the directions. To return it, I will be charged a 20% restocking fee plus pay for postage. This thermometer is twice the price of one just like it I saw a month ago at Walmart, but of course they were sold out quickly. This is one more example of how sellers are taking unfair advantage of buyers during this frightening time. PS. and the price keeps going up.

it’s just off
99% of the time it is between a half and a full degrees off usually shows that it is a lighter temperature than it truly is so when my son had a temperature of 100.3 it said he had a temperature of 99.4 Or when I had a temperature of 98.8 it showed my temperature is 97.8 so it’s always off never quite accurate we’ve use other digital thermometers as well as the old fashion to compare it and it’s just off
