I've owned a few other brands, one that makes spherical balls and another that makes "diamond" shaped ice cubes. Both are kitchy, difficult to fill and messy. With this tray I can fill it in seconds, ensure level and equally sized cubes, and the removal of the cubes is SUPER easy due to the silicone mold the tray is made out of. Simply bend the tray back or push with your fingers from below and a nice square block pops out. One or two in the morning in my water cup at work is plenty to keep it cold well throughout 1pm. Only downside are that it can be a little flimsy if you're not careful transporting it to the freezer when it's full of water. I highly recommend using a pitcher and filling right there at the freezer if possible. Cubes do NOT melt quickly unless you're pouring hot liquid over. Unfortunately, I don't have a ice maker on my fridge so I have to use ice trays. I can only fit 3 ice trays in my freezer because of the size of my freezer and regular ice trays take up a lot of space. I had purchased a big cube ice tray to try to solve these issues plus 1-2 big cubes takes the place of 6 small cubes. Needless to say, I was very disappointed with it because it broke the first time I tried to twist the tray to get the ice out, the portion that I could use after it broke I had to run hot water over the bottom of the tray for the cubes to come out, and the ice took too long to freeze. So I purchased this Tovolo King Tray and I LOVE it. It solved all the problems that the previous tray could not. The ice comes out smoothly with just a push on the bottom of the tray, it doesn't take too long for the ice to freeze, the cubes are a good size and lasts a long time in my drinks, and it doesn't take up too much space in the freezer. I ordered it in red, and I'm very pleased with the color.
