It is unlocked for any SIM card. I'm not sure what sort of support you might be looking for PS5-wise, but I can't imagine there'd be any issues either wired or wireless for connecting the PS5. The Asus web portal does a good job showing information about connectivity etc. so you know how your connection is performing. If you are really concerned about gaming performance then a router like the ASUS GT-AX11000 ROG Rapture is more of what you're looking for.

Is this better than the Netgear MR1100 and do you need a modem to use it?

This model has a SIM card slot for 4G LTE connection, so it does not need an external modem. Regarding Netgear MR1100, I have no idea since I have not used it.
