Heats up real good!
Bought to do random experiments with, and oh boy, I didn't think it would heat up so well. I first had a glass jar with some water in it, and with the heating up to halfway, it was boiling water off the top of thebplaye. Next thing, I was heating something up in a glass candle jar, and had to go to the bathroom. Well I forgot to turn it off. I came back to the stuff burnt onto the glass, and glass shattered 😅. So it works REALLY well, almost too well lol. I learned now to stay around when I'm using it, or turn it off when I'm not. It does have a slight noise from the motor that spins the magnets for magnetic stirring, but it's not super loud or annoying. Plus, I'm giving it the benefit of a doubt due to it being new still, so maybe down the line when it wears in it'll start running quiet. Very happy with this purchase! In my photo, I moved the glass jar over because I did kind of burn some stuff on the plate, maybe it'll come off, but I'm not worried as I doubt it'll really affect its heating capability. I'm definitely going to need a thermometer or find my thermocouple for my multimeter so I can watch the temp instead of trying to guess, and to mark down temps I'll mainly use on the dial.

smooth and quiet
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent for Lab and DIY Projects! The HYCC Magnetic Stirrer Hot Plate is a reliable and efficient tool that has become an essential part of my workspace. It heats up quickly and maintains a consistent temperature, making it perfect for lab experiments and DIY chemistry projects. The magnetic stirring function is smooth and quiet, and the speed control is precise, allowing me to mix solutions evenly without splashes. The compact design fits easily on my bench, and the build quality feels durable for regular use. For the price, this is a fantastic combination of a hot plate and stirrer. Whether you’re a professional or a hobbyist, this is a great addition to your tools.

works quite well
Great product! I looked at a lot of magnetic stirrers on amazon. I paid attention to the reviews and decided to go with this one. i have used it quite a few times in the 3 months since purchasing. and have been surprised by the quality for such an affordable item. Well designed and built, heats up very quickly, the temperature control is very accurate and reliable. I'm an at-home amateur chemist; I mix herbal medicines that I send out to a real lab for analysis before using and this stir plate has proven itself time and time again. if it ever breaks, i will surely be purchasing again. The product is highly recommended, a fantastic tool for the lab. thanks!

Dead after two uses.
I figured that this would be good enough for my need but that didn't end up being the case. My intended use case for this was to grow crystals. For water-soluble chemicals and salts, I wanted to keep the liquid warm but not to the boiling point. I was also interested in this one because it claims to have a higher top temperature than other hot plates. I have been experimenting with making bismuth crystals and theorized that keeping the bottom of my container warm while the bismuth cooled would allow me to get bigger crystals than I had previously and they shouldn't be stuck to the sides or bottom. The temperature control on my unit must have been broken. I ran this twice before it broke. The first time I just turned it on to the very lowest setting where it would apply power to the heater. I let it sit for a few minutes and gave it a quick tap with my hand expecting that it would be in the warm to hot range but instead it burnt the palm of my hand. I figured that maybe this is operating open-loop where it doesn't have a temperature sensor inside and that if I put a glass with some water on it, that would sink heat away and cause the water to just be warm but that was wrong. I left it sitting there for about an hour and when I came back, the water had boiled away. This was on the the very lowest setting. My expectation would be that if the maximum temperature was 380 Celsius then to get to 100 Celsius, you would need to turn the knob about 1/4 of the way. This ruled it out for simply accelerating the evaporation of water to speed up crystal growth. The second test that I did was for growing bismuth. For this, I melted the bismuth on my stove until everything had just turned liquid and then poured it into a steel container which I placed onto the hot plate wrapped in insulation to slow the cooling. I turned the temperature to about 90%. That turned out to be too high as after about ten minutes, no crystalization had happened yet. I turned it down to about 75% at that point. After a few minutes I heard a loud pop from the hot plate but it seemed to still be operating. A few minutes later there was another pop and the power light on the unit went out. I smelled the scent that you get when something electrical dies so I unplugged the unit. I checked afterwards, the fuse wasn't blown. The pop that I heard was some other part of the hot plate. An additional thing that may be of concern to others but wasn't important to me was that the plastic thermometer stand melted during this process. I realized that it was cheap and was planning on replacing the vertical part with a piece of aluminum anyway. The melting may not happen in your case. For me, I had the insulation wrapped around my container so heat from the sides of the hot plate had to go around the insulation, which rested against the plastic upright. I think that this probably wouldn't happen if you just put a beaker or flask onto it. All in, this didn't work for either of my use cases and is now dead thus the one star. I'll try out a more expensive hot plate. This unit did at least help me produce one large bismuth crystal that had been forming when it died.

Works as well as Corning for heating, but it's better for stirring!
My Corning hotplate stirrer finally stopped working after nearly 20 years of use. I had an important project to complete and needed a replacement immediately, so I thought I'd buy something cheap and then order a new Corning Hotplate Stirrer. Well, color me surprised, because this store HYCC SH-2 is pretty freaking amazing! It holds on to the stir bar though a mason jar bottom, while stirring Klucel G at 3/4's of max speed (see photo). My Corning never even came close. The finish in the hotplate is rough, which I initially saw as a disadvantage compared to the smooth ceramic, but the slight grip is fantastic when you need to constantly take what your mixing off the plate to check consistentency, and then place it back on over-and-over. The plate heats up fast, and seems to be comparable to my Corning, but I use the heating much less often than stirring. It may not last 20 years, but at 1/20 of the price, with similar capabilities, I can't recommend this hotplate stirrer enough!

Decent product but poor temp control
Heating element works great & quickly for high temps, but for lower ones the lack of a built in thermometer means lots of tweaking the dial until you get it right. Element also seems to not kick in at lowest dial settings, so you have to turn it up high, then reduce until you have the ideal temperature.

Bought this to homebrew my own steroids, better than doing it on the hob. Gives more hands free and making a monotonous job a bit more appealing. Works great and a good price.
