Great for FCP 7 Monitoring
I used to own a PCI-based monitoring solution that cost several thousands of dollars, and was quite overkill for what I needed. I then sold my MacPro and got a new iMac which only had Thunderbolt ports. I thought my hopes of ever viewing my edits on a color-calibrated production monitor would be lost. I was excited to see Blackmagic Design come up with this very simple and elegant solution. Worked perfectly with my 2012 27" iMac and my TVLogic reference monitor via SDI. The price point on this is perfect too for what it does. Very happy with this purchase.

I am not a bit technical person so if it was easy for me it should be fine for a techy ...
Was afraid to get rid of my AJA T-Tap but needed this for Blackmagic Resolve. It works for Resolve and Avid Media Composer external monitor output. Quick setup and no issues. It did stop when I upgraded my iOS, but a quick download from Blackmagic of new driver and everything back to normal again. I am not a bit technical person so if it was easy for me it should be fine for a techy or not.

Easy add of a client monitor to my Media Composer
Works great to easily add a client monitor to my Avid Media Cimposer system. After being frustrated with Avid’s full screen selection functionality that would only allow full screen on my iMac, this little box allowed me to easily have full screen of my record monitor on a 3rd computer monitor. Be sure to download the latest drivers.

Works great, just wish it worked as a monitor extension for the computer. It only outputs the playback of your editing software.

Must Have for live stream
This product does some really great things by converting the video image into a format that the mac will accept. By doing this the mac won't use processing power interpreting the video image. If you match this with OBS you have a perfect streaming setup. The price point is also something that you can't beat!Note you can only use either the HDMI Input or the SDI Input but not at the same time. Thunderbolt cable is not included but that's to be expected. Build Quality is surprisingly beefy for the size.

Works with my cheap Walmart elements but does NOT work with Atomos Ninja Flame. Does not make sense that this so called pro device works with a consumer grade monitor, but does not work with a PRO monitor. This would not even work with a Samsung mid grade tv. Wish Atomos would be honest and upfront about this in their description.

Perform well
I use these to connect Sony FS7 cameras to a 2018 MacBook Pro for streaming video from "remote" locations (via Wirecast). (They are Thunderbolt 2 devices, so an adapter is required, but they have worked flawlessly in terms of connection and quality.) I also have an older powered version, and these work just as well.

works
was easy to use, simple driver install, works with all newer computers, older computers may share the Thunderbolt bus and it will bring everything on that bus down to 10Gbps. If you need to stream quality video out of any of the Pro Apps mentioned like Avid ProTools, then this is a great box.
