For summer 2024 I installed an Amagenix shade sail (gray 16x20 curved rectangular) in a vertical orientation to block the afternoon sun from the west end of my home. (Photos are of a rough trial installation before fine tuning a week or so later, but are fairly representative of the final setup.) I had it up for the entirety of our warmest months of June through August. At 7000 feet elevation in the foothills of a mountain range, it is often quite windy, and it's not unusual to have wind speeds of 30-40 MPH (sometimes higher) from time to time. This sail shade passed it's first-season test with flying colors, with no apparent signs of the strain it experienced. To give an idea of the forces involved, during the first month one of my lower anchor points failed during one particularly windy afternoon, and while the wind was still ongoing it required nearly all my strength to pull the corner of the shade back into place to reattach it. That was only the beginning; we had several episodes through the summer when the wind was even stronger. All that said, I should point out that the lines to my anchor points are 5-10 feet long, so there is some give in the system (direct attachment of the shade corners to a solid anchor point, i.e. without at least a couple of feet of cordage in between, is not advised by the manufacturer anyway). Since this was just one season of use, I'll try to remember to update this review after more time with this shade, but so far it looks promising.

I have these all over my yard. I love the vibrant turquoise color and they just add to the aesthetic. I'm very satisfied with these and have purchased at least seven or eight in the last few years

I had a vision - to keep the sun off the pool.. simple - well what I didnt account for was rain and wind.. since I put it up we have had both wind and rain.. for wind I would say give this enough tension to flap a bit, but not so much to be able to take off like a kite, and for rain make sure you tilt it at an angel the water will run thru it, but not as quick as you think. I tested mine with a garden hose to makesure that the runoff was quicker and it wouldnt pool and pull the whole thing down. So far I have used it for two months and its rained, and stormed and this has not ripped or torn or had any problems. There is a bit of stretching after its been in the sun, but it works great..

This is the 2nd 16’x20’ Sail Shade from the same manufacturer. The first one I purchased over a yr ago is the better of the two. The one I just received last week has a bit of an imperfection in the size on one end, like it’s a few inches bigger the 16’ while the other end is almost exactly 16’. Thus the sail doesn’t stretch uniformly but rather sags more than I would like on one end. I’m going to need to purchase some different hardware now to attempt to remove the sagging area. I will say the one I purchased over a yr ago has held up extremely well. I have it stretched above my 2002 Toyota pickup truck to protect it from the hot Tucson AZ sun. We get a good bit of wind here but the sail shade shows no sign of aging, ripping or discoloration.

Live in AZ. Bought it for my front yard since it gets so hot here you need to wear an oven mitt to touch my front door knob!!! This solved the problem. Keeps from door cool, which also helps keep inside of house cooler. I love how it looks and it was very quick and easy to install. Very happy with my purchase. Holds up great even with a very bad wind storm we had.

This shade is not double reinforced along the edge, and it ripped as soon as the wind picked up just a little bit. I have another one from a different supplier and it’s going strong after two years (garden expert).

Water tipping off from all over the shade in case of rain. Not recommended at all.
