Modern Brazilian Portuguese Grammar: A Practical Guide (Modern Grammars)

I gave this book one star only because this book is not for me. Everybody learns differently but for me i find it difficult to learn from this book. I have many why this, why that, why this way type of questions which i could not find an answer. For me who is a beginner i learned i need personal tutoring to go through grammar and the Portuguese language with me in order for me to ask questions and make sense out of things as the Portuguese grammar is different to English and sentences are constructed differently.When i am at an intermediate level then i will read this book for help as many of my questions would have been dealt with in my beginners stage of learning.i would refer to to this book or feel comfortable to refer this book to somebody who is at an intermediate level

Excellent reference work for Brazilian Portuguese. I especially like how it contains two sections; the first a traditional grammar's layout broken down by grammatical category, the second is a functional/situational layout. Highly recommend for serious students or language/grammar nerds. If you're just playing around with Portuguese or easily scared off by grammatical terminology, maybe give it a miss and buy something more introductory.

Probably the best grammar book I've ever used in any foreign language. It's packed with interesting and useful information. If you're studying Brazilian Portuguese, buy it!
