Great family gift for anyone that likes Sushi
My daughter and her family love sushi, she has 4 children and they are on a tight budget. I purchased this along with a set of red/black bowls. to give her family a gift for her anniversary. This kit looks fun - it has everything, she liked the avocado slicer, the little ducks to hold the chopsticks are cute. I only wish there were 6 sets of chopsticks and ducks. Within a week of receiving this she and her family were in the kitchen making sushi. The 9 and 12 year old boys were making the sushi - she sent me photos and was so excited.

Everything you need to start making sushi!
As a former sushi chef, I have to say I wish I could've used this while making sushi! Jokes aside, this set has it all. You are given two different sushi mats, and I recommend beginners stick to the wooden one and not the green bamboo. It's much easier to roll the sushi with the wooden and further ensures that your makizushi is rolled correctly and does not break apart when cutting. At first, I was like, "What are five ducks doing here?" but I quickly realized that they were the chopstick holders. Other items include the avocado slicer (great for beginners, especially those with less experience with knives), nigiri maker (perfect for beginners once again who cannot make out the ideal shape to save their life), a sushi knife, and various other items to escalate your Japanese dining experience further. I'll repeat, it's perfect for beginners, so if you've been too scared in the past, NOW'S your chance to get started!

Fun to use for beginners
This sushi making kit was really fun to use. I don’t like to cook much. I have tried to make sushi in the past without success. This kit seemed like a good deal.I was able to use the tools in this kit to make something that looked and tasted almost as good as what I get in my local restaurant. The only downside is the instructions were not very thorough. I had to try it three times before I was successful.Basically what you do is cook your rice. (Make sure you use sushi or short grain rice and then mix it with seasoned (sugar and salt) rice vinegar otherwise it will fall apart.) Then you take the “Sushi Bazooka” and press the rice into it. Do not put too much rice in. You need to leave room for your filling (avocado, fish, cream cheese, etc.). Then you close the bazooka. Then on the mat, you lay your nori (sheet of seaweed). Then you press the plunger on the bazooka and the rice comes out in a roll. You then use the mat to roll the rice up in the nori. Finally, use the knife in the kit to slice. The sauce dishes, chopsticks, and cute chopstick holders were a nice touch when serving.
