The bag is water-proof (although water did get through the zipper when I hosed), good enough to keep items dry within the bag as long as I don’t dunk it in glacier water. I keep a hydra pack 2 L insulated just nice and snug. Bag is large enough to keep all my alpine clothing (mid and outer layers jacket and trousers.
