nice to find this on Amazon; same performance I remember for the lab
I have a PhD in biochemistry. I'm about five years out of the lab (I work at a patent law firm now, so I have a desk job) but I have picked up some hobbies relating to chemicals (e.g., adding patinas to metal, etching copper, etc.). Sometimes I need to do something like saturate the atmosphere of a jar with ammonia vapors, and I might even need to leave it for a few days. Well, I don't want my house smelling like ammonia! I was thinking, well, I would've used Parafilm in the lab to add an extra layer of protection. And then I realized I could probably find Parafilm on Amazon. If you are not used to this product, it is a stretchy film that does not incorporate an adhesive. It does stick to itself, which is why there's backing paper. It is easy to cut into any width of strip you want (just use a regular pair of scissors, with the Parafilm backing still attached). It is translucent. It will also form to the contours of your container as you stretch it, and once it is applied, it doesn't come loose from glass or metal or plastic or whatever until you want to take it off. (You do have to go all the way around the container so the Parafilm goes back and touches itself. Hope that makes sense. You can wrap around a few times for a better/more secure seal.)This lasts a long time even if you are not using it; in the past, I had the same roll next to my lab bench for several years without it getting brittle. It is somewhat heat-resistant. I was doing some experiments where I heated quartz test tubes to something like 260 degrees Celsius in an aluminum block, with the tops of the tubes exposed. I put rubber stoppers in the tubes and wrapped Parafilm around the outside of the stoppers (they were not the right size to bend down over the outside of the tube) to seal in gases from gas-filled balloons I'd put over the tops of the tubes. There was never a smell in the lab, although I was generating all kinds of nasty, nitrogen-containing molecules in my experiments. Anyway, my point is that this product works well even at reasonably high temperatures. We'd also use this if we were dissolving urea to make polyacrylamide gels. This takes a long time, so we'd mix our reagents in a plastic centrifuge tube, put the cap on, put Parafilm around the cap, and then set it on a rocker to dissolve. No leaks! And of course, there were dozens of other uses in the lab. Now I am using this at home to keep vapors in my mason jars and out of my garage (and/or kitchen, as the case may be).Anyway, I am always thinking of things I would like to use this on at home and my past experience has taught me that it is a very reliable product. I am happy to be able to get it here (and it is the same quality I have become accustomed to).

Exceeded my expectations
I bought this to wrap some Petri dishes for an experiment. I could have gotten away with using regular Saran Wrap, but all the positive reviews about this product made we want to see what the fuss was about. So I gambled and made an impulse purchase. Wow, this stuf is amazing. It’s the clingy sticky film you didn’t realize you needed in your life. My life measurably improved with this purchase. Wrapping Petri dishes now brings me joy. The non-fragile dispenser was packaged with the utmost care, and arrived faster than promised. There was also a surprise package of gummy bears included, which absolutely delighted my daughter when she wondered what was in the box I was opening. Would definitely buy again, except I now have what at this point in time feels like a lifetime supply. A life that will be filled with the highest quality cling-film wrapping experiences that money can buy. Very satisfied customer.

Works
Product could be fresher. A bit dried up, but still works if you don't stretch it past 250%. Still very useable in my opinion.

Products like this remind me that laboratories are more fun in almost every way.
Some folks may come here because it's a natural progression for introverted laboratory staff to no longer talk to their supply vendors when Amazon is available. Who wants to talk to that bubbly salesperson and try to feign small talk when you can just 'Buy Now With 1-Click™'? I came here because Parafilm works great at home for those applications you would otherwise struggle with cling film/syran wrap over. Need to cover leftovers? Parafilm. Small bundle of nuts or bolts? Stretch and wrap with this instead of using a ziplock. In case you're not intimately familiar with it already, this is a film which is designed to undergo plastic deformation as both a mechanism of adhesion and containment. It's cling film. In purpose but not much other resemblance exists. It's not difficult to handle, because there's no static charge to battle with when you pull it off the roll. Each small waxen piece clings to a piece of paper. A single 'square' is suitable for closing most smaller-mouthed containers. Think water bottles, soda bottles, test tubes, Erlenmeyer flasks. It's a great product and I haven't found it to react with any foodstuffs yet.

This stuff is amazing for sealing things air tight
If you don't know how to use this stuff, just look it up on youtube. This stuff is amazing for sealing things air tight, both in the lab and in the kitchen. A little bit goes a long way. Just be careful as it can be dissolved by solvents (i.e. gasoline). Some examples of very useful things I've used it for:• Sealing a box of cream of wheat to stop from spilling• Sealing opened wine bottles for next day or two (also prevents spills if sealed properly.)As a side note, I have sealed a wine bottle with Parafilm, turned it over, and shaken it up and down to see if it would leak, and it didn't! If you stretch the film too thin, however, it will break (I know from firsthand experience).• As a way to hold two (or more) things together temporarily without the stickiness of tape or glue.• As an emergency condom (JUST KIDDING DON'T TRY THIS)

Great for sealing petri dishes
Got this to seal petri dishes. Better than micropore tape or plastic wrap. I plan on trying out grafting tape (much cheaper alternative) after I run out of this roll.
