This works really well for new car off-gassing. After airing out our new car for a few days and still barely able to breathe the off-gassing air inside, I bought a pack of these charcoal bags and put them under the seats. It noticeably decreased the fumes within a couple of days. Results: Less headaches and healthier air to breathe.

Edit: I would like to change my review. I would like to give them 10 stars. Two weeks after we put them up in the room with the worst cat litter boxes, the smell is gone. Not masked, but gone. We've been fighting this room and it's poor circulation for years and nothing works completely. I was actually asked if I had done something different yesterday, because that room smelled, and I quote here, "suspiciously pleasant." Nope! Amazing. It took a minute, but it worked! Original review as follows: These are a lot bigger than I thought they would be. Not unwieldy levels of huge, but they are large enough that my immediate impression is positive. We put them all over the house. By cat litter boxes, in the bedrooms, by the fresh air intake for the house furnace, and a pair went into an old smelly pair of work shoes. They aren't magic. The house doesn't suddenly smell like sunshine and roses. But I have noticed over the past few days that there is a slight decrease in what we will call the scent of multiple felines. I figure if it's noticeable in just a few days, it's likely to get better over time until I forget about it completely. That is, obviously, the goal. The best part is that there are no chemicals to linger in the air we breathe. I might be one of "those" people, but if something can be accomplished without chemicals I'll take that route any day. Charcoal isn't dangerous to humans or pets, especially if it's just chilling in cute little cloth bags. And they are rather cute for what they are. I like the colors. I especially like the little pyramids. I'll be buying a second set for my father's house. His basement has a musty closed in scent that nothing seems to get rid of. Opening windows would likely help, but it's a basement. For the price and after my own experience, I feel good enough to suggest them to the people I love.

These have been hung around my basement (1650 sq ft) for a few months now and they have removed the damp smell in my basement. I havent needed to dry them out yet. Great quality.

I found that the product made no difference. I've got a studio that's about 300 square feet and I hung 3 of them around. I don't think they're intended to absorb cooking smells. My goal was to keep my clothes smelling fresh, but they have no effect so they must be for rooms where there's not much of anything that causes annoying odors. So what's the point then.
