I’m really impressed with the 3 Network ZTE MF286D 4G+ Router
I’m really impressed with the 3 Network ZTE MF286D 4G+ Router; it’s been a reliable and powerful solution for home internet. Setup was quick and simple, and it works seamlessly with any SIM card on the 3 Network. The two external antennas make a noticeable difference in signal strength and stability, especially in areas where reception can be a bit patchy. The router delivers fast, consistent 4G+ speeds, and my devices stay connected without drops even when streaming, gaming, or working from home. The web interface is easy to navigate, and I love that there’s minimal fuss once it’s up and running. Compact, sleek, and dependable , this has been a great investment for anyone needing solid mobile broadband at home or on the go. Highly recommended!

It works well - but some things to be aware of
The unit is OK if a bit flimsy and light - simple to set up with a full sized sim card put into the slot following the user guide. Turned it on - power light came on immediately, waited for the wifi light and signal strength light to turn blue. Plugged my Ethernet cable into PC and router. 192.168.32.1 according to the guide is the admin page, it failed to connect - looking at the label on the router it is actually 192.168.0.1 - which also failed to connect. The wifi light was on so , being without a smart phone luckily I have a tablet which accepted the password from the label (has to be 15 characters apparently numbers , upper case and lower case letters only) - once I was into the settings it became apparent that the device has two operating modes 1= wireless 2 = PC. The 4G indicator on mine flashes blue constantly and the unit uses just over 1 megabyte per day of data even when not being used for internet - it is supposed to be solid blue when registered to a network - this however does not seem to be a problem. I turned on the PC mode and was then able to get into settings using my PC. The wifi security appears to be WPA2-PSK by default - might be changeable - will have a look later. There is a WPS button so any device with WPS does not need a huge password to be input. Wifi signal seems good, but I rarely use wifi . Download speeds between 110 mbps early mornings and 30 mbps at peak times - upload speeds also seem OK. The phone works using the sim card number - there are two phone sockets , which I find odd, one would do surely. The LAN ports are full gigabit - I saw my first 120Mega Bytes per second file transfer using this router. On balance so far it is good and works well but a bit unusual in having a default of wireless only connection on set up and the settings interface is also a bit weird - password for the router is upper case letters and numbers only.

Product OK, Shipping & Courier Handling Unacceptable
I am re-submitting this review as my previous feedback was not published. Regarding the item itself, it is exactly as described and performs as expected. The quality is high, and it functions perfectly for my needs. However, the overall experience was impacted by the delivery process. Despite the product's quality, the local courier handling in Cyprus was not up to the expected standard, requiring me to personally collect the item from the post office despite being home for the scheduled delivery. While I am very satisfied with the product's performance, I hope the shipping logistics are reviewed to match the high quality of the item itself. Product Quality: 5/5 Delivery Experience: 1/5

Skip this if you like to fiddle. Robust if you don't.
First of all - the corded phone adaptor is flawless besides an annoying extra two seconds before it waits to dial. My mum, who is going deaf, says that the audio quality on a 20+ year old handset is flawless. She sounded very clear on my end too. If you're buying to replace a landline - just get it. That matters more than all the fluff below. There are all kinds of software problems that ZTE have worked very hard to stop you from ever fixing for yourself. The antenna configuration is utterly bizarre - only one of the ports is actually useful in the UK as far as I can tell* - even though it uses 4 antenna MIMO internally. The firmware update process does not work. The band lock system does not work - the modem will forget carrier aggregation after a few hours. Carrier aggregation !!slows down the uplink!! whether or not you have 'uplink carrier aggregation' enabled.** But the default state the modem falls in to is ultimately more useful for most purposes - download speeds that are merely good and an uplink that is great. Obviously this all varies immensely depending on what kind of cellular service you can actually get. If you're just getting a single, 20 MHz wide carrier (EE does these sometimes - three uses 15 MHz almost everywhere though) it will be very fast up and down. If you're aggregating say, 5+15, you'll only get the 5 MHz uplink speed. With my signal quality on band 28 - that's 10 Mbit/s. So I have to chose, because of a bug ZTE doesn't want me to fix, between speeds of Down/Up 140/10 and 75/25. The latter is the 'default' and it's generally more useful (a faster uplink improves the received video quality for other people on a zoom/facetime call, for instance). If pretty much all of that went over your head, you may well want to get one of these because the internal antennas get a nice strong signal in places it really shouldn't! Plus it does just work when you plug it in! *ever seen 2600 MHz B7/B38? Me neither. **In fact this option does nothing at all.

We recieced this item but it is not unlocked, it appears to be second hand and it only works three network. It has the Three name and logo on the front of the unit. It does not have ZTE written anywhere. I can't seem to find anywhere on Amazon to contact the supplier about this unit. I had to get a Three sim card and it works with that but the reception with Three is terrible in our location even with an Arial. Very disappointing
