Easy install and works great!
This system was easy to install and the directions were easy to fallow. Works every time and plays nice with Subarus. (Older ones I can verify. I Installed one for a customers 01 Outback and bought one for own car a 03 Outback) However, I am an auto tech and did have access to the vehicles wiring diagrams to make sure I was connecting the Avital wires to the proper circuits on the vehicles. If you do not have your vehicles wiring diagrams or are unfamiliar with your vehicle, you should do your home work first before trying to install. Avital's directions are easy to understand and tell you what its own wires/outputs control, but you need to know where those functions are on your own vehicle so you can connect the Avital system in. All in all, if you have your vehicles diagrams installing this device is easy. You can sometimes coax your dealer to print off a copy of your vehicles diagram(s)...we like donuts too.

Does the job well!
Works great as long as you know how to hook it up. I ordered the open box / used version from Amazon warehouse. The first one I received was in great condition looked to had never been used BUT it was missing the programming switch/button. I ordered a replacement and upon receiving the new one discovered that the first one was also missing a second remote. I did not know it came with 2 and had I not replaced it, I probably never would have noticed. Any ways... I bought this to replace my moms 12 year old remote start. Unplugged everything and just plugged it straight in. Was awesome not having to mess with wires. This was just a newer version of her old one. Programming was a breeze after watching several very helpful YouTube videos.

Fantastic system, easy to install if you have wiring experience.
For the price I paid for this system, the value is amazing. I bought one for each of my cars, they took about 1.5 to install and run the relays, new wires, and get everything set up. If you have a chip in your key, you will need extra parts to make the remote start portion work. I didn't need this, which made it a breeze to install. As others have mentioned, it doesn't come with "Installation Instructions", it also didn't come with a wiring diagram. It does come with a list of what each wire does, but that's about it. I strongly recommend you get this professionally installed if you're not familiar or comfortable with automotive wiring. The relay diagram is for a negative pulse door lock system. Also, a bitwriter is convenient, but not required, you can program it with the valet button and your fob. One thing I found annoying is that it doesn't come with a remote LED light, if you're handy you can solder one on the board where the mounted LED is and run it to your dash. Overall fantastic product for the money. Range has been good too, works from about 300ft away in a building.

Affordable, works great, easy install, ignore some reviews
Overall a great unit I think so far, it appears to work flawlessly. Itโs pretty easy to install. But if you donโt know anything about car wiring or repairs donโt attempt it. I see some reviews saying it ruined their car, no it didnโt. You did by installing it wrong. If you know what your doing and have access to proper vehicle wiring schematics itโs a simple install. Took me one hour to install this unit on a basic 2006 Kia Rio. I hooked up every feature too, defrost control, horn, lights, locks, remote start, and anti-grind.Some reviews also complain about needing more parts. That the case with most of these kits. They canโt fit all the relays and things into these tiny boxes. Again it comes back to, if you know what your doing itโs easy. If you donโt, take it to a pro. Remote start isnโt for the typical DIYer unless itโs the simple plug and play versions.I am having one little quirk. It seems after driving the car, I exit the vehicle and lock it but I get no horn confirmation like itโs in the silent mode. But if I wait 60 seconds I do get horn confirmation and will continue to get horn confirmation until I switch the ignition on then it seems to go back to silent mode for 60 seconds. So this issue only exists right after turning off the car. When I first installed it, it did not have this issue. Then I changed some programming and this started happening. Called Avital and they said it was installed wrong which is not the case, itโs installed flawlessly and wasnโt doing this in the beginning or with the old unit I took out. So Something funky is happening because there is no programming option to cause what is happening. But amazon swapped it for me so Iโll see if the new one has the same issue or not. I think something just got mixed up in programming. Maybe it just needs a reset but I didnโt want to try that till I had a replacement on hand just in case that doesnโt work. So just be warned, Avital (AKA directed/Viper/python) will not help you if you have a weird issue. They will just say itโs installed wrong. Luckily amazon has your back! And hopefully this next one wonโt have this horn issue. Itโs not a huge deal and doesnโt affect the way it functions, more just bugs my OCD that it wonโt work for 60 seconds after driving which is exactly when I lock the car and exactly when I want the horn confirmation so I know itโs locked.

Great remote start for a great price love mine don't know how I ever lived with out one.
Love this remote start unit for the price it can't be beat. I will tell you that it can be VERY hard to install unless you know cars and are good with wiring as well as reading the wiring diagrams for your car DO NOT try to do it your self. It will piss you off. This goes for all remote starters not just this one. But that aside this one has great range for the remote and you can adjust how long the car will run on remote start. you can program it to turn on the rear defroster. But I think the best part it that it dose not over run the starter after the engine starts like i've seen many others do. Also plan on having to buy and wire in some relays because some outputs are positve when your car will need a negitive signal a bit of a pain but all cars are different so thats to be expected. This unit should work in all cars however most newer cars will need a bypass modual in order to interface with your cars anti theft system. So do some research and your cars anti theft system before buying so you know what your getting into.

Not a true alarm
Wish the instructions were better. It's not a true alarm, it does remote start my car, I wish it beeped the horn for feedback to know if the doors locked or unlocked.

Has never worked properly
This thing has had issues basically from the start. My husband is a master tech at a dealership, so he and his other master tech friend installed it, just like theyโve done on dozens of others for customers vehicles, so I have no doubt it was installed correctly. Installation was done late November 2018.With my factory remote, I could click โunlockโ once for the driver door, and then twice to unlock the rest. Just a few weeks after install, I started noticing issues where intermittently, one click of โunlockโ would not unlock the driver door, and I had to press it twice to unlock it. Over the last several months, the problem just kept happening more frequently. The actual remote start also only works intermittently. You can stand next to the vehicle, press the start button, hear the vehicle initiating the start, but it never actually starts. This happens maybe 25% of the time, and the remote start works as intended about 75%. Now tonight, my husband noticed that when pressing the lock, the vehicle honks to indicate it received the command, but it does nothing to the locks. No matter how many times it is pressed, the vehicle will not lock. We grabbed our factory remotes and locked it to test it, and those work like they should and lock the vehicle. So who knows how long thatโs been broken and weโve been unknowingly leaving our vehicle unlocked. I would not recommend this thing to anyone. Itโs been nothing but problems for us. For a while, it was more of just an inconvenience with having to press โunlockโ and โstartโ several times until theyโd actually work, but now itโs completely unusable since it wonโt lock my vehicle and itโs only 6 months old. I tried multiple times in the last few months to find where I could contact the seller, but canโt find that information available to me anywhere so all thatโs left is to warn others. BUYER BEWARE.

Awesome upgrade to our diesel truck!!
This is working great for us so far! I got this for my husband for Christmas so he can start the truck from the house and let it warm up. It has a delay start, which is necessary for diesel trucks. We have a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD and also got the Xpresskit GMDLBP to incorporate the OEM alarm. Note that not every wire needs to be connected, only the ones that will be used with the system. It seems obvious, but the instructions are lacking in that way. Also, we thought it would be great to set it up to have the driver door unlock with one push of the button and the rest of the doors unlock with a second push, but we found that it actually required several button pushes to get all doors to unlock. I recommend just setting it up so that all the doors unlock at the same time.

Easy install
With a little help from internet resources was pretty easy. We used it to replace a faulty mid-2000s car starter. Basically just repinned wires from old install and cross referenced the wiring diagram from the old and new system, and used the new antenna. Started up first try and also used the door lock unlock. This unit has a ton of features that we didn't use (installed in a 2005 toyota echo), like alarm siren output and rear defrost. It's also possible to activate this unit with a cellphone but it appears you need to create an installer account with directechs.com.

Works great!
Everything works perfect if you know what youโre doing. THIS IS NOT Plug and play. It is a wire in unit that you have to splice into your factory wires. My truck is older so it didnโt have a plug and play one for it. This thing just works awesome had no problem putting it in and everything works on it
