I thought i'll try a hat that ties under his chin and hope that he won't be able to take it off. This hat worked for us! He tried to fight it, just like any other hat i put on him, but the ties helped keep it in place and after a couple moments he didn't seem to care anymore that it's on his head and just let it be, so it's a big win for this mama!
