First timer
Got the hardware set-up in about 30 minutes, but I'm handy so your mileage may vary. I was able to get get some Vectors from Shutterstock and test some prints. You have to ensure that the vector files aren't larger than the print area. I made a print that was 2200mm wasn't paying attention and before I noticed it flying to the center of nowhere it was grinding on the back rail. Once I figured out the size of the print area setting the prints went very quickly. I wish the program would not allow for designs larger than the print area, I'm sure there is an option but I haven't found it yet. Lots to learn but I like it already.

More than just a hobby!
It actually took me a little while to assemble. The instructions left out a step or two that I had to figure out for myself. But, with that in mind, it still went very well. The mounting plate for the laser module has to be slid all the way down, before you can actually mount the module to it. And, I would NOT trim the ends off of the X axis belts until you're 100% sure that you have them exactly aligned. THEN, you can put on the rail end caps. This process will take a few 'test runs' of the machine, to ensure proper alignment. The instructions included only provide information of how to put the unit together. There is an operating 'manual' that you need to download, for more instructions on the operation of the machine.Next, in order to actually USE the machine, you will need to download one (maybe two) sets of Operating System software. This is just to make the machine work. If you want patterns or templates (of course you do) you will need to download them as well. Then, if you want to use .jpeg or any other type of digital image to use as either an etching or cutting pattern, that's a whole 'nother set of downloads and translations to work with.I really think that a machine like this should include EVERYTHING you need, from start to finish, including some blank material for a few practice runs. It would have been better to have all the OS and templates on either a CD ROM or a thumb drive, than leaving the buyer wondering 'Now what?', 'How do I make it work?'.Anyway, as for the machine itself, it is exactly as advertised and does exactly what they say it will do. You can engrave OR actually CUT materials, based on your needs. It works very well and without problems. So, for that, I have to give it five stars.I look at other reviews, before I purchase a product. I saw two that complain that the unit isn't powerful enough to engrave or cut materials. All I can say about that is that maybe they didn't follow the instructions carefully enough. One step that is easily overlooked is using the spacer gauge to make sure the laser is the correct distance from the material. If it's off by a mm or two, the laser is not focused enough to do it's job. Also, actually cutting materials requires more than one pass. Depending on the type of material you're working with, or the thickness of the material, it can take up to ten passes to actually get all the way through. However, this is to be expected. This is NOT an industrial laser that is designed to cut all the way through thick material in a single pass. Something like that would be hundreds of dollars more expensive and require A LOT more safety precautions. Remember, if it can cut through 1/2 of wood in a single pass, it can also cut your FINGER off.... in.... a.... single..... pass!If you watch some YouTube videos about this product (there are many) you will find some that tell you EXACTLY what this machine can do, and how to do it. This machine works very well, IF you follow the instructions!

Good, for the price
I bought this to brand gifts for clients, etc. Does not do metal as it stated in the description so the Keychain I wanted to etch were out but I bought little wooden ones and it works ok. The smaller you get though the less detail it can handle. Overall I'm pleased. I knew I'd need to spend big bucks to have more options so this serves its purpose and will be very handy for my low demand needs.

Easy to put together, LOVE this thing
The media could not be loaded. I have a 3d printer, and wanted to expand my custom item making abilities, and have been eyeing laser engravers as my next purchase. This would also give me the ability to 3d print things, and then engrave making text cleaner or more appealing. After reading all the features, and the price point I went with this one, and do not regret it at all.Packaging was so nice and protected that I took a picture of it. It seems these days, companies tend to skimp on everything, but not the case with this as you can see by my picture. The manual was good, and took about 30 minutes to assemble, and I was up and running. I literally have been grabbing things around my workshop to try out, and messing around with different logos and drawings. I do hope to find a repository for different logos, engravings to try out, because with 3d printing there are tons, but I don’t see many for laser engraving. I don’t mind making my own, but just to do some testing I wish there were some easier to find.I have done a few engravings on wood, and they have come out awesome. I will say when doing them on wood, it can produce some smoke, but I set up a fan to help with ventilation. It hasn’t been smoky enough to set off a smoke alarm, but if you are working with a large project, it may be best to set up somewhere will ventilated.I have been using the LaserGEBL, which is actually pretty easy to use, but feel like it would be better that is something a little more advanced and customizable. I may end up moving to LightBurn, it looks to have a ton more features, and more editing inside the program, but have not tried it yet.Overall, extremally happy with this purchase, and would buy again with the build quality, and performance so far.
