Worth the Price
I bought this as a gift for my train-loving Grandson who absolutely loves this train. He is hard on his toys (like most boys) and this has held up really well. It's on the pricey side but since he loves it it was well worth the money. It is just made REALLY well.

Made well, worth price
Great, powers off when unable to move. Powerful pulling and lots of fun.

Very fun little train!
My 3 year old loves this train! It feels very durable and the color looks shiny and great! It’s got decent battery life, but sometimes struggles up an incline with a heavy load of cars behind it otherwise no complaints. It’s very fast when unloaded, and changing the battery and using the buttons are very easy and straight forward with a screw driver! I think it’s a great little train for the price!

Powerful and beautiful Brio engine
My grandson really enjoys his well designed Brio train set that we routinely add components to as gifts. This gold colored engine is especially nice because it is powerful with two batteries and beautiful. Replacing the batteries is relatively easy with a small Philips head screwdriver. The only downside to this and other Brio train sets and components is that they are overpriced. Since the pandemic Brio has engaged in price gouging. However they are high quality.

This is one of the few battery motorized engines that stays on the track!
I ordered like the whole kit n caboodle on the original train set w bridges n wooden tracks. Which come w push type engines. In addition I purchased several battery motorized engines. This one is far better than any of them. I believe cause it has a turning axle on the end of it which u can hook up several other cars and it can manipulate the track curves better. It’s the ONLY one that does not fall off. Look for engines with the turning axle support. Trust me, I put well into over $300 bucks and many hours on the floor w my grandson with this. He loves it, when it works! He wants it on all the time. Even if he is doing something else he will come back n makes sure it’s running accordingly. I hope this is something he will cherish n pass on to his kids someday.

So much fun. My grandchildren play with their Fathers old brio train set but this locomotive is a serious upgrade. Worth every penny!!

Disappointing. Barely usable after 2 play sessions
Kids and I have been building ever larger wooden tracks and I thought it would be cool to get a powered train moving on them instead of the hand-pushed ones. This looked like a solid option, especially with the pivoting towing piece. I was wrong. There are several serious design issues. Opening the battery compartment is a pain. You need to have a thin and long screw driver to reach the screw through the train's chimney, remove the chimney then assemble it again. I could live with that. However, the train's motion started becoming very jerky after 2 play sessions. I checked if there were any gunk in the axles but there wasn't. Next step was to open the motor compartment. They used non-standard triangular security screws so no screw driver fits. After fiddling with them, I finally opened the motor compartment. The gear assembly is extremely shoddy with gears loosely moving about. The jerky motion was because some gears would disengage and then re-engage in each rotation. No fix was possible. We tried living with the jerky movement but it seemed to have seriously compromised the pulling power and the train had issues going up shallow slopes. This quality level is unacceptable at this price. We ended up getting a battery train from Ikea at a fraction of the price and with much better build quality. Avoid this Brio train.

Golden train engine brio quality
Very well designed the sounds are a nice feature forward and reverse action & with the wheels at the rear that pivot they enable the engine to travel along tight track bends , the battery compartment is opened using a small screwdriver just don’t over tighten it all in all a very nice train engine well worth the money .

Super Lok!!! Großes Danke an Brio!!

A new fav in our house!
This Locomotive has quickly become my son’s favourite toy. He plays with it every day and loves how it moves and fits with his other train pieces. It’s really engaging and keeps him entertained for a long time. The quality feels great (as expected from BRIO), and it’s sturdy enough to handle regular play. Overall, a big hit in our house and definitely one of his favourite toys.
