These are VERY sturdy, will cut through thick nails - just make sure you pay attention to where the blade is & exactly where you want to cut. As others have suggested (thank you for that), shower before using to soften up the nails. Again, just pay attention while using.

I have been searching for the best product to clip my toenails, and this is it! First off, it does not slip out of my hands when I use it. The opening areas in the handle (top and bottom) do a great job of keeping the clipper secure in the hand. Second, the clipper is sharp! It handled my big toe nails without a problem. Granted, I do not have fungal-thickened nails, but they are thick and harder to clip than my other toenails. The space between upper and lower blade is wide enough that I do not have to fiddle with it to get the nail into position for clipping. Third, the clipper cuts straight across. I had been looking for quite a while to find a straight-cut clipper for my toes that I had not already tried and rejected. This one fits the bill!Packaging is nice, it comes in a small metal box (like and Altoid's box) with a small velvet bag. It was also packaged with a small glass nail file and it's protective case. I love a glass nail file, so this was a nice bonus. It is rough on one side, so you only get one grit with this file (this is my favorite glass file https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M5E1ZW7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ).I highly recommend this clipper. And when it loses its sharpness, I will purchase it again.

FINALLY a straight edge with a wide opening that works on my big toe nails. Also ideal for my thumbs.I had an ancient one with straight front edge but the pin that holds the top part of the cutting mechanism in place finally snapped. Could not find a straight front edge at a retailer, and no cutter I have ever used with whatever degree of curve to the front edges worked for the nails on my big toes or thumbs--always leaving an irregular cut with a ragged edge partway across the nail.THIS ONE WORKS. Of course I have to file after cutting but it's way better than dealing with a cut that goes too far into the nail.Only had a short while so durability still a question. Seems sturdy, only issue might me the metal part that forms the fulcrum against which the top part leverages could be higher-grade, this one seems a bit thin. But for the incremental price it won't hurt too much to just buy a replacement. I'll probably grab another one as a backup.Product designer gets an A+ for this one. Whoever had final call on how thick the metal of the fulcrum part is maybe a C.

I'm so glad I purchase these clippers. It cuts down the time to cut my father's toenails. And it cuts through thick toenails well. I definitely recommend the purchase of this product.

Worth the money

Nail clippers aren't much to get excited about, but well-made tools are a joy to use! The workmanship and utility of this product far exceeded my expectations, both for the clipper and the nail file.

Purchased for a family member. They have been quite pleased with them. Would purchase again.
