I need leg tops to be flat as possible against plate and sofa which is heavy. 8" tall legs.** A: Hi Carol, yes this is exactly why we believe these plates are the best plates on the market. They are flat, heavy duty steel, which means they sit flush against the base of the sofa and the top of the leg and are super strong. The only caveat is that the legs need to have the 5/16" hanger bolt to fit - the hanger bolt is the steel bolt coming out of the leg. (Alternatively you could use our M8 /8mm version which is for Ikea or European furniture, also on our Amazon store)I hope this helps. My old vintage ottoman originally came with lag screw type bun feet. I needed some way to attach the new modern style turned legs that come with a 5/16" bolt instead of the old style lag bolts.
