The ratings were very high however a month and 1/2 into using it, the white is almost gone completely and it just looks dirty and gross I would not recommend purchasing this at all for any reason. Doormats are supposed to be used to wipe one's feet. If you pick it up to hang it to dry out after a heavy rain it drips brown water on the floor/porch. I have it in a screened porch and have only had it for a few weeks - have to throw it away as it is ruining my floors. It came in a woven plastic sack (like that type that large quantities of rice comes in) that was made to fit the size of the mat. It shed a fair amount inside the sack but didn't have any thinning patches or anything when I took it out. It has a good thickness to it, and the design is as pictured.
