I'm considering penn spinfisher or clash for snook, redfish, etc. do you prefer the shimano soccoro? does it come with extra spool?

They are both powerful reels. I live on the west coast so I don't have any experience with snook, redfish. I use both reels for Salt Water mostly Surf Perch but I did catch a Striped Bass just this morning and had am easy time reeling it in with my Shimano Socorro SW 5000. Neither my Socorro or Spinfishers came with extra spools. Hope this is helpful.

Would you recommend this reel for surfcasting ?

I would absolutely recommend this for surf casting. This reel is the smoothest reel I’ve ever owned. It is not as light as some of the higher end reels, but it is bulletproof and smooooooooth! It is the only reel I will buy for surfcasting and rock fishing.
