Voice Over!: Seiyu Academy, Vol. 2 (2)

Everything's Coming Together Nicely
After reading the first volume of Voice Over I was left a little unsure of what to think regarding the future of the story. Hime has a set goal, sure, but little had happened to explain exactly how she was going to achieve said goal. Searching for some plot answers compelled me to pick up volume 2 and I am very glad I did. This is a series that spans 12 volumes and I am pleased at the pace the story is progressing. Although others may feel it a tad late to finally have all the plot pieces out on the table at the end of the 2nd volume, I prefer that than rushing in even if it leaves me scratching my head for a bit. The beginning focuses on some supporting character development, but by no means is it irrelevant to the story. I loved the opportunity to get to know at least one of the other "stragglers" better. I found those few chapters heart warming and appreciated the occasional chuckle from such masterfully drawn facial expressions and the way the characters interact with each other is believable and well thought out (the lip-syncing shy-boy scenes were hilarious!) Later on we direct our attention to Hime and discover more about her family life and some more exciting things (I won't spoil it.)All in all after reading this volume I've officially left the fence and wholeheartedly plan on reading the rest of the series. The pacing is just right, I can dig the story (now that I know where its going), Hime is an above average heroine with a backbone and the guys are cute. If you read the first volume I highly recommend you pick up this volume and see just what's in store for our Gorilla Princess.

A cute continuation
This one was not quite as engaging as the first volume but still good. Once again, the art is lovely and the story is filled with unique, quirky characters. In this volume Hime's group wants to do another broadcast for the school but they want to set it to animation so they try to team um with Ume for her help. Ume annoyed me. Badly enough that is almost cost this volume 1/2 a star. Her whole existence is based on who her current crush is (if she has one). I wanted to smack her upside the head and tell her to get a real life that isn't so reliant on another. Ugh!Otherwise it was nice to see how the team works together to complete the project. We get a bit of a better feel for Hime's friends. In this volume, Hime also is presented with a unique offer that seem like it will help set the stage for this series and I look forward to seeing how it will play out. Looks like the pace is about to pick up. Go, Hime!*I received this as a review copy from Viz Media via Edelweiss. All opinions expressed are strictly my own.*

Kitty Cuteness!
Hime's new role has her voicing an animated cat! She is to be the sidekick to the anime's main character. A larger role than she is used to and that her some of her co-workers feel she is ready for. To prepare for the role she decides to study up on cat behavior and takes some interesting cues from the famous cat owner, Senri.I loved getting a better glimpse into Senri's character. It's nice to see him as a human being. As Hime's friendship beings to grow with her costars we get to see some interesting turns it looks like this story will be taking. I felt this volume to be very illuminating on what to expect in future volumes. The more I read this series, the more it grows on me, especially as the characters grow and mature. I love the characters's expressions in this volume in particular. So far, so good on this series!*I was given a copy of this manga in exchange for a fair/honest review.
