We believe life should be spent together. So we designed a crib to make it easier to do just that. The Lotus is more than a travel crib. It's an EVERYWHERE crib. So light. So portable. It sets up in 15 seconds. Use it everywhere, everyday. At Home. At friends' for dinner. At a playgroup. Across town. In the airport. Across the world. And the Lotus travel crib is beautiful. It has clean lines, art-inspired graphics and logos, soft textured fabrics, and modern colors.Easy for You: Since it's effortless to take the Lotus portable crib with you and super fast to setup, you'll go more places and see more friends & family. Not just on overnight trips, but all the time at home and across town. And since it's a lightweight backpack, both hands are available for everything else, including the baby and diaper bag. Guava Family is the only company in the world that makes cribs that pack into backpacks.Fun for them: Nothing makes us happier than to see how much fun the little ones have in the Lotus travel crib. Give them their own way in and out, and they think of it as their world, not a prison. The side door, which can be zipped and secured closed turns the crib into a secure space where they'll love to play, laugh, sleep. We won't blame you for climbing in with them either.... Best purchase for my baby yet.
We have done a lot of different beds for my little one. When she was small 0-5 months she slept in a baby hammock made in Hawaii. We LOVED it and it was the best thing for her age. We tried a few nights in a cosleeper (both in bed and one attached to the bed) both were not good for my heavy-sleeping husband and neither provided much safety. If you really want a cosleeping bed, get a crib that can go level with your mattress. When she transitioned to a crib, she had no problem sleeping but we had problems with using bumpers. We were concerned for the breathability of it, so we tried the mesh liner that is popular and available everywhere. She would toss and turn and whack her head on the crib rails. So we put the bumper on. We never saw a problem with breathability or suffocation risk (although i was super panicked and check in on her at night numerous times) but eventually she learned to climb so off went the bumper again. This time we saw her little limbs stuck through the rails. Horribly upsetting. So we put her in a traditional pack-n-play by Graco. The bottom is off the ground and for whatever reason, she could not/would not sleep in it. Then we tried the Pea in the Pod travel bed we used on a few trips. Although there are many perks, she eventually got freaked out to be in a confined area that wouldn't allow her to stand up. ...So here we are on bed number 100 and the minute she got into this she was fine and slept like a dream. Back to her early days of 12 hours a night. Yes, seriously that long. So in a nutshell... 1. Set up took under 3 minutes 2. It really is lightweight (good for older parents, grandparents, going to/fro upstairs or outside and back) 3. Montessori friendly with the zipper that means eventually we can leave it open and have our lil one crawl in and out at will. 4. on the ground (sturdy, no walking problems, also she won't be climbing over, just walk out of it) 5. the conversion to future bassinet for my next one is a great option 6. large bed area 7. mesh sides- no suffocation risk and no limbs caught in slots between crib bars. 8. fits in her travel luggage on a plane and also can work as a backpack carry-on if we want to not check it in. 9. the set up is easy with the moon star images that squeeze together. I gave away a packnplay this morning and tried showing them how to set it up. it took over 10 minutes. i seriously hate those things. i wanted a 4moms but i could justify the extra $ at the time. My only eh part is that yet again i have to accommodate the mattress crib linens. I don't want a standard sheet so I am going to retrofit an existing one and create button hole enclosures to go around the velcro tabs that secure the mattress to the crib mesh bottom. Also, one velcro tab came off within seconds of me pulling lightly on it. ****Update:: do NOT put this in the main luggage compartment on an airplane. Our bag ripped and cut through the netting of the bed. I sewed it up and on the return flight we just carried it on(along with way too many baby things. :) Update three years later: here we are using this on baby number three as the main bed. NO2 had horrible sleep issues from her crib from 0-16 months and I was so sleep deprived I somehow forgot to just put her in this. Within 1 night she went from waking 10plus times a night to sleeping through the night. Within a week she was at 11 hours straight. We moved it out to the nursery for our baby No3 and thought we could have No2 just adjust to her toddler bed...nope. So we bought a second one of these with the bassinet attachment. this is by far the best baby item purchase we have made in 4 years. I still wish the bedding was normal size as I resort to custom made ones from etsy. I don't think the standards work as well as I'd like but I probably should have tried those sheet clips that can stretch and clip on under a mattress. Anyhow... Definitely still love this crib.

Everyone, who can afford it, should buy this product
It took me a while to decide to purchase this travel crib given the price. But, wow, am I glad I did, for at least 6 reasons: (1) Super easy set-up and take down. This design aspect is not to be underestimated. We arrived at our vacation destination close to bedtime. Without even looking at the instructions, I could assemble the bed in about 2 minutes, including securing the mattress and sheet, and plop my son in. It takes a bit longer to take-down and pack-up, but it is still easy and intuitive. You could loan this to a friend and they could figure it out without the instruction booklet. The design is simple and elegant. (2) Small and light-weight. Even on our most recent trip by car, I was thankful for its small size as our car trunk was filling up fast, and it was easy to tote to our location as a backpack. Its compact size and light weight is a real bonus. (3) The thick sheet and cozy mattress. I was initially not thrilled about the mattress being on the floor, but I must admit, the benefit is that the mattress lays perfectly flat. Plus I purchased the plush sheet, which gave it a very cozy feel. For a portable crib mattress, this was more than adequate. Note: the sheet shipped directly from the seller; I chose the standard shipping, which estimated 1-2 days processing followed by 5-8 days for shipping, but it arrived in 3 days! Bravo, Guava Family. (4) The side door. I didn't think we would ever use the side door, but it turns out my son loves to crawl in to visit his toys, and if we put a blanket over the top, he has a little fort. I totally underestimated this aspect of the design. (5) Rugged. My son, now 17 months old, is a bit of a bruiser. And, the crib seems to stand up well to him hurling himself from one side of the crib to the other and trying his best to pull down the rails. He also likes to sleep with his head or feet pressed up against the side, and no stretching so far. (6) Pretty. Although this was not a priority for us, the crib is actually very elegant and nice to look at. In conclusion, I have borrowed several Pack N Plays, and the only reason I can imagine anyone choosing the Pack N Play over the Lotus is price. The first time I tried to take down a Pack N Play, it literally took me an hour -- frustrating enough that I would have paid someone $100 (the approximate difference in price between the Lotus and Pack N Play) to do it for me!!

This has been the most fulfilling purchase I have ever made with Amazon!
Personally the main reason I shop at Amazon, other then the ease and convenience, is the ability to read reviews from real life people who tell it like it is. I believe that if you purchase a product that stands out for either good or bad reasons then it is important to share your experiences with others to help others make well-informed purchases. As a new parent, or little guy just recently turned one, my wife and I have spent countless time and money on baby products, most of which we now realized we didn’t need. This item on the other hand I must consider to be one of the best purchases we have made in this new journey. I am a Marine so I travel frequently and I often drag my family along with me. We currently live in Japan and we travel throughout the Pacific and to and from the states relatively frequently. We were looking for a travel crib to use when we were on the road and we really only found two that met our criteria, this Lotus Travel Crib and the Baby Bjorn one. We ultimately went with the Lotus Travel Crib because the Baby Bjorn did not package into a “carry on” approved size for airline travel and we are so happy with our purchase. First of all, once packed away it is well within the approved carry on size for airline travel, a huge plus, although side note many airlines do not count baby gear against your checked luggage limit! We recently traveled with Delta, ANA and United and each of these airlines did not count the checked car seat or this crib against our two luggage per person limit. This thing is incredibly compact and the process of unpacking it is simply entertaining and enjoyable, it reminds me of some NASA lander unpacking itself after reaching orbit! You unzip the case, unfold the legs and bam! It is so easy to set up and our little guy loves it! One of the most important questions my wife and I were asking was how stable is it. Since the mattress actually sits on the ground, it is incredibly stable. Our little guy has grabbed onto the rails and shaken it pretty good and I must say that it did not even come close to tipping! When it came to packing it back up I was a little weary as no product I have ever purchase that claimed to be “easy to pack” has even been! This truly was and it left me completely surprised! At $204 it is expensive, there is no getting around it however in the month that my wife and I have been using this we have traveled over 20,000 flight miles with it along with countless car and train mileage and everything has held up perfectly. There is no doubt in my mind that this product will last for years and it is a suitable investment that will absolutely be passed down to the next kid when the time comes. Again I am very pleased with this purchase. It was pricey yes however this is one of the times where you truly do get what you pay for. The quality is unmatched!
