Excellent ending to an iconic television show!
I loved everything about HOUSE's final season ... except that it was HOUSE's final season! No complaints - just love and gratitude for such a fine show and for those who created it for all of us to see.

Bittersweet ending..but ultimately,satisfying
I was sad to find out House was going off the air;however,I wasn't surprised. Personally,I would have liked to have seen at least one more season, but that's just me. :PThe addition of Dr. Adams(Odette Annable) and Park(Charlyne Yi) as the two new doctors were welcome. I'm gonna come right out and say it:I was OK with Lisa Edelstein leaving the show.A small but vocal group of fans has made their feelings known about how Edelstein was written out of the show- and about Annable and Yi.This is Season 8, not Season 7.There were big changes(the season starts with House in prison, which is where he meets Dr. Adams. You were never quite sure where they were going to go with plot lines, but..they worked(if anyone was *start spoiler alert* going to get cancer..I thought it would be House. Kinda out of left field for Dr. Wilson(Robert Sean Leonard) to be the one who does *end spoiler*Other plot lines like Chase's stabbing in Nobody's Fault are not dropped suddenly-he didn't have an instant recovery like how it is in some medical dramas where a doctor gets injured and they're fine the next week(I'm looking at YOU, Chicago Hope).House has always been able to get good guest stars(especially memorable this season? Battlestar Galactica's Jamie Bamber and Medium's Jake Weber, as well as Billy Connolly as House's stepfather.Admittedly I was nervous about how they would end House. I hoped they wouldn't go for the lame, "blowing up the hospital" ending. They didn't.That's how Grey's Anatomy will end, with all likelihood. No,House got it SO right. I mean, if I had been writing the final episode, that is exactly the ending I would have written. It was perfect. It allowed the audience to make up their own mind about what happened to the characters(though House and Wilson's fates were far more ambiguous than the rest.)

What can I say...?
...that hasn't been said by better writers in better reviews? It was never about the medicine for me. I never cared very much whether the medicine or medical procedures were accurate. I'm not a doctor of any kind so even some glaring mistakes probably flew by me unnoticed. I usually didn't care overly much about the guest patients or their illnesses, either, although there were a few I liked. I also liked only 2 or 3 of the diagnostic team members enough to be interested in their own separate stories, but more often than not I resented the times when a supporting character was featured because more of "them" usually meant less of Hugh Laurie. And that's what it was always about for me: watching Hugh Laurie blow my mind week after week, year after year, playing THAT character. The only other actor/character icon I can think of that was as big and impressive was Alan Alda playing Hawkeye Pierce in the '70's. And frankly, I think Hugh is the better actor; Hugh was actually creating a character that was NOT like Hugh Laurie in any respect. Alan Alda as Hawkeye, by about the 3rd or 4th season of M*A*S*H, was basically playing himself under the name "Hawkeye Pierce."I will miss watching Hugh play House. I will certainly look forward to watching Hugh play other characters in other projects, and I will relentlessly hunt down every recording of every piece of music he's ever played, but I will miss watching him create House.

A good final season (prior season spoilers)
+++Warning, this contains spoilers from the prior season of House, but no major giveaways from the final season+++House's eighth and final season aired in the 2011-2012 TV season and consisted of the show's final 22 episodes. The show starts out almost a year after House drove his car into Cuddy's living room. He ultimately returned to New Jersey, was arrested, and has been in jail for three months (after representing himself at trial). The first episode, much like the season House was in the psychiatric hospital, is set in the last few days of House's stint in jail (we learn that Foreman got him early release on the condition that he can only go to the hospital or his apartment), assuming he makes it through the last week without getting killed or having his sentence extended. While in jail he meets Dr. Jessica Adams (played by Odette Annable, probably best known for her role in Cloverfield up to that point) who works in the prison infirmary, and who would become a new member of the team along with the character of Dr. Chi Park (played by Charline Yi) who was pawned off on House after she punched her attending. Of course, House gets out of jail, and once he does, the show continues with the case of the week format as well as having a couple of different serial arcs, including a fake marriage to a Ukranian model (played by Karolina Wydra) and a major storyline that ultimately wraps up the series. For those who get the Blu-Ray set, there are fewer extras for this release than in prior season releases. There are no commentary tracks or deleted scenes, but there there are three making-of/behind-the-scenes featurettes...one about the episode that Hugh Laurie directed, one that serves as a behind-the-scenes/making-of the final episode and has footage of the series wrap party, and one that is basically a series retrospective. Between the three of them, you get over an hour of bonus content. The A/V quality of the blu-ray is very good even though it did not get the kind of transfer that big-budget movies get.Ultimately, season 8 is good, with some great moments, but feels incomplete because there is no real resolution to the House-Cuddy storyline. Cuddy does not appear at all, even in the final episode in which many of the former cast members (including Kal Penn, Sela Ward, Anne Dudek, Olivia Wilde, Amber Tamblyn, Andre Braugher, and Jennifer Morrison) returned for cameos. That said, I do think that the ending to the series was perfect for House. It gave the viewers closure but still left some things open to imagination. Even with the reduced budget that the show had in the final season, it still managed to get some good guest and recurring stars (some of whom were not huge stars at that point) including Jaleel White, Michael Masse, Wentworth Miller, Yaya DaCosta, Jeffrey Wright, David Anders, Rena Sofer, and Michael B. Jordan. So, while I do not think it is as good as the prior seasons, it is still very good, and definitely worth watching to see how the series ended.

A spectacular conclusion to arguably the best medical drama in television history
With Cuddy gone and House incarcerated only to stir up more trouble with the inmates whilst working a case which leads to him being thrown in solitary in the first episode, onto the unrealistic 2nd episode where obviously House is freed from prison in a bit of a silly fashion to be supervised by none other than the skeptical Dr. Foreman. We here learn that Cuddy has left Princeton Plainsborough almost immediately after House rammed his car into her house in the conclusion to the previous season. Cuddy has never been an important character to me in the show, except in situations when she was required, and as an adversary to houses rule breaking when needed. So she isn't missed that much for me in this final season. This season has some wonderful stories and is mostly made up of stand alone episodes as opposed to multi-episode arcs like normal. We have some very important character development in this season and it doesn't feel rushed or contrived. House has always been over the top in character and storyline, not to mention all these MEGA rare conditions occuring under the one small roof of this one hospital, so people are a bit silly to complain about one unrealistic thing such as the slick, hilarious and utterly over-the-top ending of Season 7.As we approach the twillight episodes we are confronted with many possibilities of a finale. The finale chosen is just... utterly compelling, and with many memorable moments and a fantastic bonding of two characters. The final episode is emotionally stunning, and as we montage over the lives of all the characters with the wonderful "Warren Zevons' - Keep me in your heart for a while", you will be crying like a baby unless your heart is black and you feel nothing... or are on vicodin haha. And we finish up with a nice tied up ending, leaving nothing to be answered (at least that I can think of) and for a show of its type, has got to be one of... if not THE best ending to a television season I have ever sat and watched. Hugh Laurie and the rest of the cast have kept this whole thing running from start to finish... Especially the chemistry between Robert Sean Leonards' Wilson and the sexual tension between House and Cameron in the earlier seasons (with occasional "will they or won't they moments afterwards"). But lets face it... Hugh made you want to watch it because his character was just so unique and free spirited. All in all... I'm very satisfied with its ending, but very sad to see it go. Bring on more shows like this Mr. David Shore and crew. And Hugh Laurie... You are a legend dude... ME and EVERYONE reading this want more of you, we want more of your amazing character on the big screen or the small...Farewell "House M.D"Written by Will Burnett ([email protected])
