When removing the cap, give it a twist as your pulling the cap off. The blue seal inside the cap tends to come out if you don’t twist it. **Q: can you store soups at room temperature using this or do they have to be frozen or refrigerated?** A: I have never seen so much misinformation about a product submitted by people who have no knowledge whatsoever. Liquids can most definitely be stored using this sealer. For instance, a soup can be poured into a mason jar and filled TO THE FREEZE LINE ON THE BOTTLE. Yes, mason jars have a line on the bottle and its purpose is marked on the bottle. If, for example, you wish to store a soup for many months, the bottle of soup must be placed into a freezer. There are correct comments that this does not replace canning; foods that may be canned do not require refrigeration after canning; nevertheless, the life of a food can be extended by months by freezing in a mason jar. I use the 32 oz. mason jar for extending the life of Romaine lettuce, cole slaw, etc. Normally those products will not keep in the refrigerator drawers for two weeks but they do keep for that long and come out of the bottle just as fresh as off-the-shelf in the market. **Q: Can you reuse the ball lids and vacuum seal with a lid more than once, or do the seal only until the first time it's opened?** A: Yes you can. I have coffee sealed in mason jars, opened daily with the Brix Jarkey jar opener (on Amazon for $6.85). It is a plastic bottle/jar opener. I open the mason jar gently with it.
