It's very sturdy and there is no skid feet. Also it's steady while loading and unloading. And it backups my data very well.

how long is the usb cable? just unpacked a drive with an idget midget usb cable that can't even reach my desktop's port!

This requires the AC Wall Adapater to power the unit - which is provided. The USB2.0 cable is also required - also provided

does this unit come with an AC adapter?

Yes. A 120 Volt to 12VDC transformer. But unlike other adapters I've received, the blades that plug into the wall outlet are in a separate small package in the box and have to be slid and locked into place on the transformer.
