Inner Beauty Hot Sauce

I have benn using Inner Beauty since the 90's. The current version is really, really good. It's hot, but not stupid-hot, and has a taste that is delicious. It's the best.

I had used Inner Beauty for years and then suddenly it could not be found. I became aware of a very similar sauce called Rasta Fire Hot, Hot, Hot Sauce, which also uses mustard and fruit juices and is excellent. Then when searching online, I found that Inner Beauty was being made by a company in Maine, which seemed a surprising place to find hot sauce being mad, but it's fine with me. Inner Beauty is better as the flavors are brighter and more lively and there is just a bit more heat. It's also a bit more expensive but worth it.

This was a popular sauce many years ago and the original manufacturers stopped making it. It originally came from Chris Schlesinger's East Coast Grill and I believe they sold a version made by them. It disappeared for a few years and came back from a different distributer, a bit less hot but still tasty. I believe this is the third iteration and each time it has changed just a bit. However the same mustardy, citrusy taste with mango sweetness and scotch bonnet heat is still present. This is not nearly as hot as the original but is just as tasty and I would think it appeals to a wider audience without the previous blistering heat. I don't know how the heat varies between batches as all peppers have a good bit of variation in the level of heat.

I was a huge fan of this sauce since the 80s, and fondly recall many grill parties where it was featured. It was disheartening when it went off the market a few years ago, and it's great to see it brought back under new management. The only thing I noticed is that either they toned down the heat a bit, or I have grown more tolerant of it; I can use quite a bit more on a hotdog these days!Inner Beauty is a great replacement for spicy brown mustard when you want to add both heat and flavor.

When I first ordered this sauce, the glass bottle arrived broken, having been packaged in a small box with only a thin layer of bubble wrap. The seller was kind enough to send me another bottle... The second bottle was thankfully not broken, but the cap was nearly all the way unscrewed! It barely took a slight movement to take it off, and there was no seal underneath, so that was a near miss. At least I got to try the sauce this time (the flavor is very nice, mustard-based, better described by other reviewers) but please take more care with how you package and ship your products.

The bottle arrived today, perfectly packaged for shipping in hot weather — when I unwrapped the bubble wrap, the bottle was cool, despite spending half a day in the mailbox in 100-degree weather. The sauce itself is just as I remember it: delicious, perfectly balanced flavors, and it goes with whatever you want hot sauce on. I might try it on ice cream later. I found it here on Amazon while trying to search for the recipe so I could make some myself. Thanks, Todd, for bringing it back!

It's possible that this is my favorite hot sauce. The flavor profile is out of this world. So thankful that it is available again after so many years. This stuff is amazing!

I first discovered Inner Beauty hot sauce back in the mid 1990s as a gift from my brother, who frequented East Coast Grill in Cambridge MA. It has long been my favorite condiment....for me, the one I measure other hot sauce by. I am overjoyed that someone bought the original Inner Beauty recipe and it is once again available.Though it is quite hot, it is also very tasty. I use it on hamburgers, grilled chicken, hot dogs, even meat loaf. I often mix it with mayo to reduce the heat for my wife. When mixed with mayo, I have used it on BLT sandwiches. I've also used it when making a ranch dressing with a spicy hot kick. I love this stuff.I consider myself an Inner Beauty evangelist, having turned my friends onto it's taste. It is not for everybody, but if you like a great tasting condiment offering more than just heat, this is one of the best.
