I installed the shock assist on 2017 Ram and now the tailgate is harder to close has anyone else have this issue

I put mine on a 2017 Ram, and no issues with closing, maybe you have a faulty piston that’s about all I can think..good luck.

My tailgate cable gets caught behind the shock. How do I prevent this from happening?

There is a sweet spot to adjust the distance of the hydraulic. My truck was approximately 5 inches from the top end. There is a video that helps as well.

Can this be installed on passenger side of tailgate?

We are afraid not. This tailgate assist kit needs to be mounted to the driver's side.
