clean & clear looking, push button watch band for easy swap out, so far so good
UPDATE: 2/22/24. Well, my Charge 5 died. Just died. Had it just over 6 months. I was really pleased with this Charge 5 every single day I have had it, and I wore it every single day and night, then it acted a little wonky a couple days ago, then the next day (today) it just fully died. Was fully charged (holds charge forever) but showed nothing. Had a white line then went all black. Cant get it to do anything, even when plugged in. RIP :( Keeping my review the same. I am once again so disappointed. As per my review I happened to have purchased an Inspire 3 at same time, so I am currently charging that up. Will see if I keep with it or shop around. Please Fitbit.. do better. ------------------------------------------------ For stuff like this, I sort by "most recent reviews". I did that and saw all the negatives, but I still went with it, and I will tell you why. I simply like the brand overall despite some frustrations and wasting of money, haha. I think buying a Fitbit product is taking a risk. I am still reticent to move to another brand because I havent found one I really like, and I almost never like the apps. I simply havent been impressed enough to want to make a change. I have been gifted or borrowed other brands, and I still come back to fitbit. So I just view Fitbit as a throw away item that is sure to crapp out within 2 years. Not sure if it is the product or my body chemistry as my husband STILL uses his Fitbit Blaze from late 2015 to this day. ME? I went through 2 Blazes, and several others in the same time period. I have been using Fitbit nearly exclusively for 9 years straight. I have had the early model "fitbit" (whatever it was before HR came on the scene. circa 2014), then the first Fitbit Charge, Blaze (2 of them!), Versa 2, Sense, and then very recently I went backwards to the Inspire 3 and this Charge 5, simultaneously. I bought them both as the combined price was less than one smartwatch. I decided that I really didnt take advantage of all the features of the smartwatch, and so when my Sense crappped out exactly 2 years, I decided to go with a more basic model. I hemmed and hawed between the Inspire 3 and Charge 5. For my detailed review of the Inspire 3, [[ASIN:R294EPMGY8EA6R here is a link to my review]]. They are both very similar (Inspire 3 needs to have phone for GPS tracking, and although it says that the Inspire 3 does NOT have ECG app for AFIB detection, it does. Sorta. "while it can't take an ECG like the more expensive Fitbit Charge 5 or newer smartwatches, it will monitor your heart rate and alert you if it detects an irregular heart rhythm"). Then size difference. But that is about it. IF you are looking to "compare and contrast" then scroll halfway down the product description page and you will see that they list a slew of other Fitbit models to compare it to. On this product page they dont show the Inspire 3. If you want to compare this Charge 5 to the Inspire 3, then go to the Inspire 3 produc page and scroll down half way to see the models they compare it to. The Charge 5 is one of them. The battery life on this is good. Seems to hold true to the weeklong battery life. I have my watch face set to needing to be tapped/pressed rather than wrist flick, which I imagine can impact battery life, as well as other nuances. But as is it lasts all week. Image is very clear. Looks great. Nice bright clear colors and lettering/numbers. Can change watch face in app. Larger face than the Inspire 3, but smaller than the smartwatches. I think the size of face is perfect for me. Loaded with info to easily see. Scroll up, down, left, right for all the information you could possibly want. Steps seem accurate enough. I find that if anything it undercounts, which is fine. I just adjust my goal. But it is close (thats the other thing with Fitbit, i find the step counts to be pretty accurate compared to other brand names I have used). Has the button to pop the wristband on and off. The Inspire 3 has the pin style which I dont care for. Wish they would list this type of details. Overall I really like it, and am pleased with the Charge 5. It has all that I need, and at a price point that is much more reasonable over the smartwatches-- I really dont use the features on those, so why buy them? I WILL update if I experience anything worth sharing. I had gone back to my Sense review to update when it officially "died". I didnt change rating, but I figured it was good info to know. THE ONLY THING I DONT LIKE, which isnt Charge 5 specific, bit just toward Fitbit as a whole: There was a time when you could have more than one Fitbit linked to your app. NOW, in order to have one, you have to take off the other. I bought the Inspire 3 and Charge 5 at the same time with expectation that I could have both in use depending on which I felt like wearing and to compare them. So I initially used the Inspire 3 for a couple of weeks then deleted it off the app in order to try out this Charge 5. In order to switch back I have to delete the Charge 5. Its annoying. Since I prefer the Charge 5, I will either tuck the Inspire 3 away for use when this inevitably crapps out, or just give it away.

Everything is great except the sleep tracker
I rated it overall a 5 star because the sleep tracker wasn't a real selling point for me. I find that the sleep tracker is a little "bogus". I woke up one night around 2 am to use the bathroom and realized my battery was very low so I decided to just charge it the rest of the night. The next morning it showed my supposed sleep pattern and heart rate info all the way through past 6 am. I wasn't even wearing it and it was obviously connected to the charger. Everything else I love about it. The steps counter seems to be very accurate, as I've watched it count as I'm walking and it's right on the money. I love that it "knows" when I do an activity (except it counts some of my walks as 'elliptical' workouts because my neighborhood is very hilly - but I'm okay with that because it is like an elliptical.) I love that I can sync MyFitnessPal to it and it keeps up with my calories, etc. automatically. I love the free trial of premium because of the available workouts that I can cast to my TV and it keeps track of my fitbit info - heart rate, etc on my TV screen so I can visualize my progress as I work out. I love the difference watch face choices in the app. The ECG has been very informative. I have noticed that I felt palpitations occasionally and thought it was nothing but too much caffeine, but it caught one episode of afib so far so I will be getting checked out for that. You can actually download the ECG for your own records or to send to your physician, etc. I printed mine out and I can see the afib pattern. The only thing for me has been that by the time I feel a palpitation and swipe through to get to the ECG screen on the Fitbit and get it started, the palpitations have stopped most of the time. One other thing I really really like is that there are many many band choices online that are really inexpensive (but read reviews so you don't buy ones that will easily break or fall off) I've bought about 8-10 bands in different colors and styles so I can change my band to match my outfit or mood. All in all I love it and it has helped me drop about 10 pounds so far in about a month. I'd definitely recommend it.

Accuracy not as good as my Versa 2!
I received a Versa 2 Fitbit watch as a gift and wore it daily for several years. I loved it, it worked great, but the battery quit holding its charge. Since there is no way to replace the battery I ordered the Fitbit Charge 5. My husband has one and he loves his. I expected a better, more advanced product, and I am really a bit disappointed with it. I was looking forward to the "ECG" feature, conveniently already on my wrist, since I have episodes of irregular heartbeats. Forget it, it does NOT work. Every time I have an episode it either says it couldn't get a reading and please repeat, keeping my hand still, or it says "normal sinus rhythm." I have two other devices and they pick up the abnormal rhythm. So that feature is a complete bust! The "steps" and "pulse rate" seem to be accurate and equivalent to the Versa 2. The sleep tracking works, but is not as accurate as the Versa 2. It frequently says I'm asleep when I am not. The exercise tracker is not as easy to use, and no matter how many time I try to change the type of exercises available on my watch it doesn't work. It only tells me I already have the maximum number on my watch, but gives me no option to delete the ones I don't use so I can add what I want. My last complaint about the watch is that it does not stay on the charger very well. This seems to be a case of the magnetic feature sounding like a good thing but the reality is different. It must be seated perfectly, which I get, but the least thing will unseat it so that it isn't charging when you think it is. I tried a different charger and it helped some. I do like the sleeker design of the Charge 5. It is also easy to clean, and so far the battery life is very good, so at least I'm not dealing with the charging issue too often! My husband is very happy with his but the only thing he really uses it for besides time/date is for the number of steps and how many miles he's walked. If that is all you are interested in then it is a great device.

love it!!!! issues with device but Amazon replaced it with no problems. (GPS inaccurate)
Charge 5 is working great ever since I turned off the GPS. Battery lasts at least 8-9 days. Everything else is working great. 2/14/2022 Amazon replaced the Charge 5. 10/26/2021. I am hoping all is well now. I still love the features and product. However, Fitbit Customer support is atrocious unlike the amazing customer service from Amazon. . 11/01/2021 Update. The new tracker still can't track distance accurately. I am not sure if it is due to the forested mountain trail or my jacket & gloves covering the tracker or a combination. The distance is off by 2 miles reporting 6+ to 7+ miles on a four mile trail. Otherwise it seems to be fine. I might as well just accept things as they are. But if you are a hiker and want to get accurate information about your hike, better hike in open dessert in the summer. Disappointed! ********* I am very; active hiking and resistance training. (Weights). The old trackers did fairly well counting my steps during my hikes. But were close to worthless when it came to my weight training or even doing abdominal's. The charge 5 tracks everything. The screen is so easy to read. Very simple to navigate through all the modes. I am very pleased with it. But only had it a few days, so time will tell. 2 weeks later.... I still love the features but the device is full of glitches. I assume software glitches. I hike the exact same trail up the mountain and back three times a week. Each hike the Charge 5 is reporting different mileage. The difference is significant over 0ne mile and sometimes two miles off. It has gone dead apparently or else I died for one hour twice at the time I went to sleep, one hour later it starts to register a heartbeat and record my sleep. I have called Fitbit twice, got the old we will get back with you via email with instructions. No email. I would recommend waiting till they get the bugs out of the software before buying a Charge 5. No I am not going to send mine back, my old Charge 3 died a few days before I bought the Charge 5. So I will bite the bullet and hope they remedy the issues soon. October 24th ..... It died or I did again for 35 minutes last night when I went to sleep. Called Fitbit was given the run around. Finally I was told again that they would contact me via email with instructions. I am sure that they know they have a problem but don't want to admit it. Probably working on a fix. So stalling for time. It is also tracking my hikes inconsistently reporting varying distances even though I am always hiking the exact same mountain trail and have been doing it now for 14 years consistently.

This is my last Fitbit ever - do some research, get something else
I've been a loyal Fitbit user since the Flex came out. I've had the Flex 2, Charge 2, Charge 3, Charge 4 and was gifted a Charge 5. For the most part, each new model was better than the last and was well appointed with features and had a lifetime of just short of the warranty. Until now. The 5 is a poor "upgrade" to the 4. I should have requested something else by a better manufacturer. All the cool new things it can do seem to be part of the premium package that you have to pay for via subscription. I say "seem" because I refuse to give them my credit card for the 6-month "free trial" so I don't get to use the 6-month free trial. The user community is full of people who signed up for the free trial, were charged immediately and now can't cancel. I opted to not go down that path so I didn't sign up and now I feel as though half of what the Charge 5 can do is simply wasted. Telling Time: this thing isn't a watch because all the "clock faces" were designed by children so they are unreadable. Stylistically, they're cool but you can't actually read them. Not being able to at least use the Charge 5 to get the time is ridiculous. Alarms: these are tricky to set because you can only do so on the Charge 5 and not via the app. You also have to wait several minutes between setting different alarms because otherwise, it thinks you're attempting to modify the ones you already have. Also, they don't always go off when they should. Stairs: the Charge 5 no longer counts stairs (altimeter?) so that's a bummer. Sensitivity: tapping on the pebble face should "wake up" the Charge 5. Be patient because it takes quite awhile and a lot of tapping. And sometimes your definition of "light" isn't the same as Fitbit's. Some features require the app: ECG and other features require that you use the app but it is NOT clear who owns your data. There is a statement (at one point) that states that whatever data is collected cannot be deleted. This seems fishy but I was unable to find out more online. There's a manual: but good luck finding it on their website. I had to look through the user community because I couldn't find a simple answer and was directed to page 50 of the "Manual" that I had not found in all my searching. Then I got attitude because I questioned why the manual was so hard to find. It should have come up in my search for "how to use the charge 5" yet didn't. This is a disgrace if you ask me. Firmware updates: Ok, this is important.... I got my brand-new, out of the box, Charge 5 yesterday and it wasn't too hard to set up although I had several questions. It seemed just fine. Then, last night, it got a firmware update and.... lights out! It shut itself off and that was it! I went back to the online community and searched and searched and this is apparently normal!? I tried many of the suggestions (mostly, putting it on the charger and resetting it) but it just didn't want to work at all. I left it on the charger (where I couldn't tell if it was doing anything or not) and called it a day. I happened to check on it a few hours later and it was on and ready to go. Weird. Does it do this every time there's an update? Does Fitbit test anything they push out? Will this happened every time there's an update? Where is the support? And while it appeared to work just fine late last night, the alarm I set for this morning did NOT go off. I can see that the alarm is set but I know it didn't go off because I also set my old-fashioned bedside alarm and was awake before the Charge alarm was supposed to go off yet didn't Now I don't trust this device at all and it makes me wonder what else on this thing is inaccurate or not to be trusted. If I set up premium which is supposed to monitor your heart rate, will paramedics suddenly show up at my door if this thing decides that I'm in A-fib? Or my heart rate is through the roof and it thinks I'm having a heart attack? Overall, it's a nice idea with a LOT of glitches. Buy something else that can be more functional and easier to use. Once this thing dies once and for all, I'm getting a Garmin. No one has these issues with a Garmin. ------------------ Update: I've had this for just over a week and it has "sort of" worked. When it works, it's great. When it doesn't... it's just a waste. Here's the latest example: as the battery wound down to 11%, I put it on its charger and when it was fully charged, I put it back on. Eight hours later, it was deader than a doornail and because of this, failed to wake me up (don't worry, I set my regular alarm). This wasn't the first time it bricked and it will probably do it again in a few days. I stand by my earlier review - get something else. ------------------ Update: This is my last update.... well, it bricked around Christmas 2024, about 18 months after it was given to me as a gift and it's the battery. It will charge to 100%, last about 24 hours, then drains down to an alert message stating that the "battery drained". Rinse and repeat for a few months until I just got tired of it. I was hoping that Google would put some Oomph into the warranty or into building a better version but I hear that the Charge 6 offers more but only if you sign up for Google Services (YouTube, Wallet, etc.) but the battery life is 6-days or less. What's the point?

I would get it again!!
I’ve had my Fitbit Charge 5 for several years and will mast likely get the newest one when this one dies. It’s not bulky, even on a smaller wrist. It’s been a great tool for keeping track of steps, sleep, heart rate and so much more. I wear it all time including in the pool. Good battery life.

Fairly feature-rich device, with low-quality construction and infuriating misses in recorded data
I like the idea as well as *most* of the execution of the Fitbit. I personally find the sleep tracker great. From a workout perspective, having the GPS built in as well as heart rate and step metrics is fantastic. From there, I have found some unfortunately infuriating aspects to the Fitbit experience: 1. Construction quality For some initial backstory, I had a Charge 4 and really liked it. It stopped working within the warranty period and they sent me a replacement. Then the wristband broke. They sent me a replacement for that. Then the BODY of the Charge 4 itself disintegrated and there was no longer a way to attach the wristband and so the device was useless. I was out of warranty by this time, so my hope was that if I upgraded to the Charge 5 just this once, then I might be into calmer waters. So I buy the Charge 5. Here I am 7 months later, and while the wristband actually seems to be holding up, the device itself just stopped working. Looking at the back I can see that moisture has seeped into the sensor area. Again, they are sending me a replacement. 3. Workout details Running - I would be extremely surprised if there's a single runner on the Fitbit design or product management teams. I've had multiple Timex Ironman watches over the years. They all report times down to the millisecond, provide splits as you see fit, etc. Fitbit does a reasonable enough job tracking your times while you're actually running, but when you go to look at the details later in the app, you don't get the full overall time. At best, you get hours and minutes. This may seem like splitting hairs to some, but runners (and swimmers) are a generally fastidious bunch and we want our seconds and milliseconds. In addition, there doesn't appear to be a way to see a breakdown of your splits across dimensions other than a mile. It's using GPS - unleash our data for us so that we can get down in the statistical weeds like an MLB announcer. Day of Week - This is a bit of a nit, but the workout history only shows the day of month, not the day of week. I'm not a calendar over here. Show me the calendar day AND the DOW so I can quickly compare performance week-over-week at a glance. Compare workouts over time - I used Endomondo for years and absolutely loved that app until it was finally retired a year or 2 ago. You could very efficiently compare week over week workout stats and details in the app. You could even filter on specific activities and get a roll-up weekly and monthly summary of things like total time and mileage. You'd even get notifications and reports about things like personal records for things like distances, times, and overall duration. Fitbit has none of this. It's like scrolling through a never ending Instagram feed - no purposeful direction other than the thing currently staring back at you. I see that there may be some way to link this up with Strava, but I'd really like an integrated and seamless experience that doesn't require special import/export hacks. Let me start a workout on my watch, and be off! 4. Zone notifications I made this a special section because it's so utterly intrusive. It's like when you accidentally click on one of those click-baity websites, start scrolling, and little ads start popping up over top of what you're trying to read on the top, bottom, left and right. So, I'm in the middle of a run or workout and want to check my time, heart rate, or any other stat for that matter, and up pops "You're in Cardio! Keep it up!" Good, great, now get out of my way! Tap, double tap, swipe, flick my wrist, intimidation - NONE of these things gets rid of the notification! It's just there, in your way, for a solid 10 seconds or more. This makes normal training annoying. It makes interval/fartlek training damn near impossible. Your heart rate in those cases is ALL over the place. Last but not least, sometimes I go to stop my workout and the screen suddenly becomes non-responsive. Then BAM, that darn notification pops up in the way and I can't stop my run time until it decides to go away. 5. Support Support is OK. At least they will replace devices without too much effort. It probably depends on the type of problem you're having, but with my Charge 4 they refused to send me a replacement until they shipped me a return envelope and I returned the broken device. It was weeks before I had a working watch again. With the Charge 5, they seemed to have scrapped this process and now ship out replacements immediately. Much appreciated! 6. Fitbit Community Feedback Utility I don't use the community much, but I had hoped that I could get some product manager to take a look at some improvements for running experience for the watch and app. A month or more went by when someone finally responded. All they had to say was "put your request over here instead." Funny enough, I had put my request in this specific area because I saw someone else make the same thread in a different area and the Fitbit team told them to put the thread where I had put mine. Conclusion Overall, I'm OK with the fitbit for now, but I still find it lacking for anyone other than extremely casual athletes. I think a good portion of the problems are simply lack of investment in development resources for the app itself. The remainder are due to major remaining issues with quality. I'm hoping better app and firmware updates on the horizon, but until then I'll be seriously looking for a better replacement. Something like a cross between a Timex Ironman, Fitbit, and Strava or Endomondo.

Fantastic value as a GOOD first fitness tracker
Yes you can get cheapo fitness watches 30% the price of the Charge 5 (UK), but I tried one of those last year and it was a total waste of time. Display was virtually invisible in daylight, accuracy was poor and functions very limited. The Charge 5 is head and shoulders above them. The display is awesome, the navigation easy to use and intuitive and the supporting phone app very informative and helpful. Of course, it doesn't offer the accuracy and functionality of apple and android super smart watches, but frankly, I am not there yet. (I dont really need functions that I use my phone for on my watch as well). My wife was so impressed with the positive impact the watch had on my fitness regime she got one as well! She loves it just as much as I do. I bought a different strap as I did not get on with the rubber one it came with (I have sensitive skin) but that was no big deal. My wife was super happy with hers. Battery life is amazing. We leave our watches on day and night and only charge once every five days or so... We've had the watches over a month now and have no regrets - though I am told not to expect much more than 18 months 2 years life expectancy. Time will tell and maybe I will update this review as and when it expires! If you're looking for a good entry level fitness watch to help kickstart your health plans then look no further. Pete (UK)

Sorprendente
