Nonfiction Sight Word Readers Parent Pack: Level A

Really great nonfiction readers! I’ve been teaching children to read for 8 years now and just came across this set. These are very engaging and have some repetitive words to increase readers ability to read new words. Excellent resource. This reading teacher highly recommends this set.

These are great. My 4 year old can read so many words now

I bought these for my Kindergarten son a few months back, based on the reviews I read. He went from not being able to read at all to being able to read every book in the pack within just a few months. It makes him feel so proud (and of course mom & dad feel proud too :-) and he actually looks forward to reading them. I would strongly recommend to any parent that wants to help their child develop a love of reading early on. I am purchasing the level B pack today!

These books are perfect for emerging readers! My daughter is so proud of her progress as she reads through them, and she's expanding her vocabulary with every page!

I got these for my 3 year old that had been asking me to teach him to read since a few months ago. I’ve been reading to him everyday since he was smaller and he loves to read. I decided to start teaching him some phonics and he learned to read in like a month maybe. I’m not sure if it’s just because he was eager to learn? I never pressured him to do “work”, I only taught him because he insisted. I got these books because I had seen others, like the BOB books and I wasn’t a fan of the drawings. This one has realistic nonfiction images. My son LOVES them, whenever we are not practicing reading these, I find him trying to spell out the titles with his letters on his own. Some words are not phonetic words and are harder words like “sheep”. We are not exactly there yet but the images help him figure it out. What I do to make sure he’s not guessing the sentences is I cover the image with a piece of paper and have him read it and that way I know he wasn’t guessing. But so far these books are a hit and he loves the little bingo in the end. I just wish the books had more pages and weren’t too repetitive. The first picture I posted is how I usually do a set up for him, we use other items to help it be more hands on and not just “reading” since he’s a kinesthetic learner.

WITHIN MINUTES, my child went from not being able to read to reading short sentences. Please note: this has ALOT to do with him looking at the pictures and "figuring" out what is on the page because it's a lot of repetitive sentences. However, he was SO proud of himself and eager to "read" another one, which has never happened before. He starts kindergarten in this fall, so I am glad to have these in my arsenal to help get him ready. He doesn't care for fictional "Mat sat. Pat sat. Mat sat on Pat" stories. He got bored easily with those. But the real pictures of animals and people and places and things caught his attention quickly.

These are perfect for beginner readers. Each book focuses on one sight word and the pictures help the students infer the words they can’t yet decode. I appreciate that they chose nonfiction to help build vocabulary. We focused on 1 book a week and used it for fluency. At the end of the week we put the sight word on a chart and used the chart as review before the next book. I really like how the set includes a writing companion to practice the sight words. They also include a recognition game of Bingo on the last page which is a fun touch. These are just what we were looking for!

Great book set for beginning readers! Has 25 books each with. Sight word to focus on, word list in back of book to go over before you read, and a little work book to practice writing each sight word and find the sight word in a list of words. Each page in the workbook goes along with a book to read. The books are nice because the have pictures and are repetitive. For example: the bear can swim, the bear can eat, etc. My 4 year old loves the books!

My 3 1/2 year old loves these. They make him feel like he’s got a reading book like his big brother, and a lot of the words are becoming familiar. I’m hoping this will help for when he starts school in September.
