CAT Footwear Mens Invader Steel ToeWork Shoe

My husband absolutely loves these shoes! They are very comfortable for a steel toe and have made his work day easier, they offer better heel support, heavy-dutily made, and his feet are much safer. Perfect shoe for those hardworking, construction fellas.

Wide toe. Comfortable. Sturdy and good plant. Bulky.

I do not work in a hardcore industrial setting, I manage a dock for a logistics company. Up until I ordered these work shoes I had been wearing running shoes to deal with the concrete floor that I was getting upwards of 25,000 steps per day on. After smashing a dock plate into my toe I decided it was time to take my safety more seriously. The Cat work shoes function much differently than a running shoe, obviously. These have about a week of break-in period where the shoe feels very stiff and uncomfortable. The materials are much more durable, thick and heavy than a regular shoe so this is to be expected. Each day after the first was a bit better than the last, and after a week I was comfortable in them and continue to be. Will these Cat work shoes feel as nice as a pair of Adidas Ultraboost or Nike Vapormax once broken in? Definitely not in my opinion, but these will outlive the running shoes and more importantly they will keep my feet safe. A coworker saw my shoes and ordered a similar pair, he also loves them but can confirm the break-in period is uncomfortable and agrees that the wait is worth it. A couple of things to note: the sizes run large. I got a 10.5 but probably would've been better with a 10. I wear a 10.5 Nike and 11 Adidas so plan accordingly. Also, these will make your an inch or two taller. The steel toe isn't seamlessly placed into the boot so it can be distracting feeling the steel edge with your toes.

I have only had my CAT work shoes for 8 months but I have only worn them for about 30% of this time so we are talking only about 2.5 months of NORMAL USE so I think it is only fair to write my review in 2 parts, Positives and Negatives . POSITIVES: Great design, comfortable to wear and heavy duty slip resistant and great toe protection I particularly like the reflective materials on top which make the shoes very visible in chaotic environments with fork trucks and robotic vehicles running around every which way. NEGATIVES: The only negative bout these shoes is the poor materials used for the upper part construction. First of all the shoes LEAK which makes them useless in environments where there is a lot of spills on the floor. Then there is a problem with the rubber material around the front. This material tends to disintegrate when it comes in contact with oil, even the smallest amounts. The material goes soft and "bubbles" as you can see in the pictures. Once that happens, the material easily tears apart, at which point the shoes are no longer useful and have to be thrown away. I only went with these shoes for the BRAND (CAT) and now I am highly disappointed that my expensive work shoes only lasted 2.5 months.

Second pair I have owned love them will continue to buy
